Spacecraft Operations Engineer

In this position, you will be responsible for spacecraft operations through all stages of the development process for CesiumAstro payloads and satellites. Your responsibilities will include system design, team leadership, and hands-on satellite operations. The ideal candidate will be an experienced satellite operator and engineer with the desire and ability to create operations systems as well as utilize them. As a Cesium spacecraft team member, you will work on a small team to develop satellites and put them in orbit. You will be responsible for designing satellite operations systems from end to end and then utilizing those systems to commission and operate satellites in low Earth orbit. You will provide creative solutions to complex problems to push the boundaries of satellite operations. The successful candidate will also present engineering design review materials to our customers and executive team, as well as participate in proposal-writing efforts. As such, excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. JOB REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor of Science (BS) degree in Aerospace, Electrical, or Software Engineering Minimum of 9 years of direct experience in satellite operations in a professional or university settingStrong understanding of satellite systems including CDH, EPS, Thermal, Comms, GNC, and Mechanisms Understanding of satellite ConOps, including fault detection and recovery as well as mode and state transitionsUnderstanding of the systems used in operations from the operator terminal to the missions databases and ground segment interfacesProficiency in at least one programming language used in building, maintaining and utilizing operations systemsHands on experience in trouble-shooting satellties on-orbitExcellent written and verbal communication skills PREFERRED EXPERIENCEPython, C++, MATLAB, or other programming languages Experience with COSMOS or other test and operational interfacesExperiences standing up operations systems from scratchExperience across operations for multiple mission classes\Operations team leadership experience$145,000 - $175,000 a yearCesiumAstro considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
