SPACEPORT MIXOLOGIST
The Starbase Hospitality team serves all employees, customers, government partners, potential clients and/or visitors with everything from snacks to daily meals to full service events. The Spaceport Mixologist is responsible for the quality of service throughout one or more of our beverage outlets. This individual works directly with Hospitality leadership to support the flow of service and improve customer service interactions. They are also responsible for directly addressing concerns or complaints from customers in person and have the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues, problem solve, and communicate at a high level. The Spaceport Mixologist supports the mission by upholding friendly, welcoming service environments that enhance the productivity and morale of the workforce while ensuring the team is performing to departmental and company standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with team in meeting time and quality standards set by supervisor Execute detailed services, timelines, and schedules Adhere to proper food safety practices Facilitate effective communication of team or operation needs between team and leadership Fill in for different front of house roles as needed Maintain a clean and safe work environment Assist in organization and cleaning of service equipment and bar areas Assist in quality and consistency of food and beverage products at point of service Support the setup, execution and breakdown of services and/or events Understand and participate in the training of all Hospitality roles and responsibilities Exercise strong customer service and communication skills Execute catering/event requests Maintain service by properly anticipating our guests’ needs Adhere to proper safety guidelines Showcase an advanced knowledge of wine and beverage service Showcase an advanced knowledge of food ingredients, preparations and styles Clearly communicate frequently changing menu Follow guidelines concerning the service and safety of our guests Prepare drinks, including hand crafted cocktail options, ensuring consistency and compliance with recipe, portioning, and waste control guidelines Ensure assigned station is stocked and clean; maintaining organization, cleanliness and sanitation of all work areas and equipment Maintain proper inventory levels for all team products Communicate directly with vendors for order placement or any subsequent issues with deliveries or product qualityBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalency certificate 3+ years of experience in mixology or cocktail preparation 5+ years of industry experiencePREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
2+ years of leadership experience 7+ years of food service experience in customer service role Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills Excellent time management skills Excellent understanding of food safety and sanitation practices Experience working in large team settings Experience in all areas of restaurant and event service including bartending, serving and porting Experience preparing handcrafted cocktails in a resort/hotel environment Experience pairing drinks with a themed menu High volume experience People leader skills Adaptability, problem-solving skills, and extreme attention to detail Team player with the ability to collaborate effectively, including but not limited to training of incoming team members Ability to work gracefully under pressureADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to work with hands continuously: chop, stir, scrape, and scrub Ability to carry large heavy items unassisted (up to 25 lbs.) Ability to perform frequent bending, stooping, and lifting of objects Ability to stand for long periods of time – up to 10 hours a day Must be able to work all shifts and available for overtime, weekends and holiday as needed Must participate in internal leadership and development training Previous bartending experience is a must Valid Texas Food Handler and TABC Certification or willingness to obtain them before employmentCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Mixologist/Level 1: $20.00/hour
Mixologist/Level 2: $22.50/hour
Mixologist/Level 3: $25.00/hour
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
