SCRMC- Medical Interpreter
JOB SUMMARY: The interpreter, under general supervision, has the responsibility to interpret written and/or spoken material from one language to another while maintaining the original meaning, format, and tone. They play a crucial role in facilitating communication and understanding between different language speakers, sometimes in very specialized and sensitive cases. They will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to bridge communication gaps and foster multilingual understanding. This position will help improve quality, promote safe clinical care, and enhance the patient and family’s healthcare experience.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of two year’s experience in healthcare Must be able to pass a Language Proficiency Assessment Must be 18 years or older
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITES:
Ability to deliver high quality translated content via written or oral communication Ability to interpret fluently Reads, translates, and rewrites documents as needed Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient understanding, patient concerns, explain treatment options, and updates as needed Specialized knowledge in healthcare and knowledge of medical terminology Specialized knowledge in cultural understanding Ability to detect nonverbal cues or cultural customs specific to that group of people Ability to document timely and appropriate in the electronic medical record Ability to work weekends, holidays, and take call Must be organized and able to cope with stress Ability to maintain unbiased and neutral Coordinates effective transitions plans post discharge by calling patient post dischargeCORE DUTIES:
