SPD Coordinator - FT Evenings

The SPD Coordinator is responsible for the department in the absence of the Supervisor. He/She assists in the following: supervisory, directing, orienting, evaluating, teaching, infection control, quality control, inventory control, safety and in-service education. Responsible for coordinating, monitoring and controlling O.R. projects, procedural changes and process improvement initiatives. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: + Coordinates all O.R. projects, communicates and works closely with the Operating Room, i.e. supplies, new instruments, procedures. + Assumes responsibility for and supervision of the department in the absence of the Supervisor. + Problem-solves within the department and hospital-wide in matters related to the activities of the department. + Participates in the orientation of new employees and assists in the supervision and teaching of new and current employees. Provides input into employee evaluations. + Assists in the development of new and the revision of current policies and procedures. + Maintains required records, keeps them current and gathers statistics. + Updates the SPD computer program, i.e. new items, price changes, deletions, etc. PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: Standing for up to 4 hours, up to 1 hour at a time. Walking for up to 4 hours per day, 1 hour at a time. Sitting for up to 3 hours per day, 1 hour at a time. Frequently uses fingers and hands for data entry, assembling instrument trays, picking items for case carts, etc. Occasionally pushes or pulls carts weighing up to 150 lbs. Occasionally uses upper extremities to lift up to 25 lbs. Seeing as it relates to general vision, near vision, peripheral vision (must be able to detect defects such as nicks, burrs, etc., in instruments). Hearing ability sufficient to hear above noise level of operating equipment (sterilizers) and hear alarms, telephone, etc. EDUCATION: High School graduate or equivalent. Certification through a national sterile processing program. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 3-5 years as an SPD Technician. Additional courses in surgical procedures and technique of sterilization is desirable. Please complete your application using your full legal name and current home address.
