SPDT-Applications Engineer I


Volt is hiring a Single-Point Diamond Turning Application Engineer for our client in Carpinteria, CA
The Applications Engineer I will play a major role in supporting the daily requirements in the
operation and maintenance of ultra-precision machine tools as well as manufacturing and
metrology development in fabrication of optical components. This position will also support
Engineering in new product development and testing.
As a SPDT Applications Engineer, you will be responsible for:

\r\n\r\nHigh-precision diamond turning and milling on a wide variety of customer specific applications.\r\nInitiate and support UI applications developments.\r\nMaintain expertise in core manufacturing and machining processes.\r\nEstablish relevant manufacturing processes.\r\nSupport the technical aspects of the equipment/process quotation for the sales\r\ndepartment.\r\nCollaborate and make recommendations on third party software applications integration\r\nUnderstand and document the operations, manufacturing, and variations of high-precision CNC lathing and milling equipment and software.\r\nDesign, build, and assemble appropriate fixtures, programs, and processes necessary to demonstrate the manufacture of optical quality parts meeting customer specific applications.\r\nOperate various optical metrology equipment (microscopes, radiuscopes, interferometers, etc.) for qualification of machined parts.\r\nTravel to customer facilities (domestic and international) to train customers in operation of the equipment and provide applications / process support.\r\n\r\n


This is a full-time, DIRECT HIRE opportunity.
Qualification/Requirements:

\r\n\r\nAssociate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and/or five years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.\r\nKnowledge of GD&T, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, American National Standards Institute, and other appropriate standards for dimensioning and tolerancing.\r\nKnowledge of computer-aided drafting techniques, CAD modeling and design, and high-level three-dimensional parametric CAD systems.\r\nKnowledge of mathematical formulas and computations (e.g. algebraic, geometric, shop\r\nWrites clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar; presents numerical data effectively; reads and interprets written technical information.\r\nExperience programming CNC machine tools.\r\nBuilds effective relationships with customers by identifying customer expectations.\r\nTeamwork and cooperation.\r\nProblem solving skills; gathers and analyzes information, offers practical solutions that enhance the organization's systems or products.\r\n\r\n



Salary: $83k-106K per year
*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
