Overview
Responsible for the management of the Market’s Special Assets portfolio including designing and implementing strategies to achieve goals established in conjunction with Market leadership. Management of credit risk, including input on new lending decisions, shadowing of assets showing early signs of deterioration and direct management of assets which present heightened levels of risk to the Bank are key functions of this position. This position is responsible for ensuring the special assets portfolio is managed in compliance with regulatory requirements, Bank policies and procedures, Bank strategy and risk appetite.
Responsibilities
+ Manage the Market’s Special Assets Portfolio to achieve established goals, pursue and achieve the most favorable economic outcome available to the Bank, maintain alignment with risk appetite, minimize reputational risk and maintain alignment with regulatory requirements through the following responsibilities:
+ Management of criticized and classified loan portfolio, OREO and direct responsibility, oversight and recovery of charged off loans and troubled consumer and residential loans.
+ Shadow Relationship Manager on relationships where a material weakness is emerging, and enhanced monitoring is required.
+ Conduct thorough loan documentation reviews of troubled credits to determine level of documentation risk and follow through on appropriate steps to mitigate risks.
+ Conduct examination of collateral, order new collateral valuations as needed, in addition to third party reports. This position will independently assess asset valuations to assess collateral position and establish if shortfall exists in collateral dependent situations.
+ Work with Finance and Credit Administration Division Manager to determine if a specific reserve needs to be taken on any distressed asset.
+ Establish work out strategies to maximize economic return based on collateral guarantees and maintain proper risk ratings. Compile data on criticized/classified loans, for regular reports to senior management and the Board of Directors including collection activities, trends and strategies.
+ Prepare complete action plans and lead quarterly action plan meetings for all criticized/classified loans and make appropriate recommendations.
+ Assist with reviews of past-due and criticized loan reports, supervisory examination reports, and other sources of information for possible downgrading of deteriorating situations.
+ Maintain an accurate picture of the overall credit and regulatory risks associated with the loan portfolio; keep the Board of Directors and management informed on an ongoing basis.
+ Implement strategies to achieve goals assigned to the Special Asset Recovery Manager as established by Market leadership.
+ Cooperate with, participate in, and support the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness.
+ Ensure that the department and all personnel adhere to established operating policies and procedures along with outside regulatory requirements.
+ Regularly attend and participate in Officers Loan Committee and Board Meetings.
+ Communicate with the Board Audit and the Credit Administration Division Manager, other department managers, and appropriate staff personnel in order to integrate goals and activities.
+ Provide periodic reports to the Board, Audit, Finance, Independent Loan Review and Regulators, the Credit Administration Division Manager, and other groups as required throughout the Company.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in a related field; specialized lending and loan review education and training.
+ Minimum of eight (8) years' credit risk and/or asset management experience required.
+ Proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills
+ A thorough knowledge of bank lending principles, policies, and practices; proficient financial statement analysis skills
+ Knowledge of current lending and collection laws and regulations.
+ Demonstrated management and supervisory skills.
