Yes County Albany Street Address 31 British American Boulevard, Latham OR NYC or other locations statewide* City TBD State NY Zip Code 00000 Duties Description Under the direction of the Deputy Chief Information Security Officer, within the Chief Information Security Office/Integrated Security Services/Security Services Team, the incumbent in this position will take on special projects as assigned by the Deputy CISO. The incumbent will work both as an individual and at times as a lead to ad hoc teams to complete projects required by CISO. These projects can entail any area covered by CISO such as drafting security procedures, managing security compliance, security remediation projects, office moves, and staff reorganizations to align security staff with executive direction. All assignments will serve to move CISO in the direction of improving CISO’s capabilities to fulfill NYS’s business needs to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information and systems.The position requires an incumbent to act with a great deal of independence in alignment with agency and upper-level management strategic direction. The incumbent will need strong oral and written communication skills and will interface with various individuals including management, users, vendors, and other IT staff. The incumbent must be able to communicate clearly with peer and subordinate staff regarding work priorities and performance. The incumbent will have to work with Office of IT Services teams and upper-level agency management to resolve complex security issues and politically sensitive issues under pressure. Duties include, but are not limited to:• Manage and implement information security and compliance related projects.• Assist Deputy CISO’s and other CISO leadership with various projects.• Monitor and/or manage Executive priorities such as the Metrics Program Buildout• Support the CISO Staff Reorganization to align with Executive direction.• Organize and overseeing CISO Office relocations.• Organize and/or draft security documentation to codify SST products, tools, and processes to ensure that all teams will have access to the required support for success.• Serve as information security expert and evaluate systems and contracts for alignment with agency and State information security policies.• Form and oversee workgroups to accomplish targeted objectives.• Monitor and remain aware of information security industry trends, tools, and techniques.• Perform the full range of supervisory responsibilities and additional duties as required. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree* with at least 15 credit hours in cyber security, information assurance or information technology and four years of information technology experience, including three years of information security or information assurance experience and two years at a supervisory level.* Bachelor's degree candidates without at least 15 course credits in cyber security, information assurance, or information technology require an additional year of general information technology experience to qualify. Appropriate information security or information assurance experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis; an associate's degree requires an additional two years of general information technology experience. Experience solely in information security or information assurance may substitute for the general information technology experience.Preferred qualifications: The ideal candidate would possess one or more of the following preferred qualifications:• Applicable Information Security certificate(s) such as CISSP, CISM, etc.• Experience in one or more of the following areas:o Leading an information security teamo Applying and implementing network, system, or application securityo Security policy/standard/guideline development, implementation, or interpretationo Conducting risk assessments and evaluating information technology systems for security controls (SSDLC)o Process development, improvement, and measuremento Information security incident response• Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to clearly articulate information technology and information security concepts to a varied audience to facilitate wide understanding of risks and mitigations• Demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills• Demonstrated skill in facilitating meetings, listening, and negotiating between multiple stakeholders to drive results.
