Job Summary The OSU Department of Athletics is seeking a Special Assistant to the Head Coach. This will be a full-time (1.00 FTE ),12-month, professional faculty position. The Special Assistant to the Head Coach plays a crucial role in supporting the Head Coach with the operations, leadership, and coaching of the Oregon State University Football program. This position involves a variety of responsibilities including administrative support, leadership support, identification and execution of special projects, statistical analysis, and preparation for games and practices, while also ensuring compliance with NCAA rules and regulations and University policies. Key Responsibilities 50% ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT + Assist with special projects assigned by the Head Coach. + In conjunction with the Head Coach, support the daily administrative and operational needs of the football program. + Attend coach and staff administrative meetings. + Participate in on-campus recruiting activities. + Encourages and participates in activities that foster an environment that is diverse, equitable, inclusive, and fosters a sense of belonging for student workers, student athletes, and co-workers. + Speak at various campus and community groups on behalf of the Head Coach and football program. + Serve as a liaison with external entities including former student-athletes, alumni, and donors. 45% TACTICAL AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT + Coordinate video cutups and distribution of preliminary offensive, defensive and special teams scouting reports. + Assist with overall practice and gameday preparation, statistical analysis, and video analysis. + Attend team and position group meetings. + Coordinate statistical analysis and preparation for game opponents. + Provide statistical support during home games. + Travel with coaching staff and team to away games to provide statistical support 5% OTHER + Performs other duties as assigned. What You Will Need + Bachelor’s degree + Strong proficiency in football-related technology. + 2 years of experience as part of a football organization. + Excellent interpersonal skills to enhance communication and overall interactions with student-athletes, peers, alumni, administrative personnel, and the community. + Ability to provide critical thinking and consultation to achieve positive outcomes. + Exceptional character traits in integrity and fairness. + Exemplify the core values and standards of Oregon State Athletics. + Demonstrated history of acting ethically and complying with all laws, policies, rules and regulations. + Demonstrated ability to communicate in a manner that shows respect and inclusivity for student athletes, student workers and colleagues. This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months. What We Would Like You to Have + Master’s Degree + Previous experience as a head coach of a Football Bowl Subdivision ( FBS ) program. + Experience as a football student-athlete. + 10+ years of experience as part of a football organization. + Enhanced knowledge of Oregon State University, the Oregon State football program, and Pac-12 football programs. Working Conditions / Work Schedule Will work nights, weekends and holidays.
