From 8-week-old infants to 5 year-old preschoolers, Brookville Center’s Post Avenue School in Westbury offers the highest-quality early childhood program in a nurturing setting, where children of all abilities can learn and grow. Our school is open to the community and also has financial scholarships available to qualifying families.
Our program is licensed, approved and regulated by both the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) and the New York State Board of Education. The program is guided by New York State Learning Standards and follows an educational and play-based, language-enriched curriculum
Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Early Childhood and Special Education required New York State Certification in Special Education required Must have one (1) year early childhood related experience, planning Individual Education Plans (I.E.P.) New York State Students with Disabilities Birth-2, Early Childhood Birth-2 required Special Education–Permanent Certification and Nursery K, 1-6 Permanent Certification acceptedPrimary duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:
Evaluate and provide appropriate special education services to assigned children. Oversee activities of assigned teacher assistants and aides; communicate appropriately and in a timely manner with families. Ongoing professional development in areas relevant to children enrolled in program.
