Cross Classroom Guide (Special Education Teacher)

Location: Madison, WI

Position Start Date: January 6, 2025

Salary/Wage: $45,000 – $55,000 per year, based on experience

Terms/Schedule: 7:30 am – 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday

Appointment Type: Full Time

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Cross Classroom Guide (Special Education Teacher) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering the development and growth of young children, particularly those with special needs. While a Birth-3 License is highly desirable, it is not a mandatory requirement.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities for children aged birth to 3 years. Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children. Monitor and assess the developmental progress of each child. Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers about their child’s progress and needs. Collaborate with other educators and staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment. Provide support to students’ holistic education inside the classroom and beyond. Work with Student Services and Lead Guides to create a Montessori-first and Best Practices approach to Special Education interventions and lesson adaptations. Work with Student Services and Lead Guides to develop plans for students with exceptionalities that align with the Montessori Method. Communicate with Student Services, Lead Guides, and Supporting Educators regarding specific student needs, provide modifications to classroom lessons, and assist with the implementation of modified lessons, as needed. Collaborate with Student Services to complete and maintain all documentation and records related to the child’s file.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field. Experience working with young children, preferably in an educational setting. Strong understanding of child development principles and best practices. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Birth-3 License (preferred but not required).
