Special Education Teacher- Mild/Mod & Mod/Severe
Pay Range: $50-60/hr (DOE) Type: Full Time (M-F) Specialization: Mild/Mod & Mod/Severe Description: The Special Education Teacher provides quality services to students from kindergarten through grade 12, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator. This role involves team participation in planning and implementing student programs, including special instruction, tutorial assistance, and consultation with general education staff. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: + Prepare student education plans in consultation with parents and team members + Support students with various learning, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities + Design instruction (individual and small group) aligned with general education curriculum + Collaborate with parents, administrators, and professionals to develop educational plans + Prepare materials and classrooms for activities + Coordinate and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) with general education staff + Monitor student progress and participate in IEP reviews + Maintain accurate student records + Mentor and support teaching assistants + Prepare students for grade transitions and life skills + Assess students' skills and educational needs and track their performance + Discuss student progress with other teachers + Communicate to maintain positive relationships with students and parents + Follow School District policies and procedures Minimum Requirements: + Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university (preferred) + Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract/district regulations + Special Education teaching credential (Mild/Mod or Mod/Severe) + Minimum of one year teaching experience (preferred) + State Teacher Certification in Elementary, Secondary, or Special Education (preferred) + Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) (preferred) + Comply with relevant professional standards of practice + Complete Amergis' Competency program (if applicable) + Current CPR certification (if applicable) + TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray (if applicable) + Current health certificate (per contract/state regulation) + Meet all federal, state, and local requirements + Successfully complete new hire training (as applicable) + Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements + Strong communication skills and proficiency in English + Computer proficiency + Must be at least 18 years of age Benefits At Amergis, we firmly believe that our employees are the heartbeat of our organization and we are happy to offer the following benefits: + Competitive pay & weekly paychecks + Health, dental, vision, and life insurance + 401(k) savings plan + Awards and recognition programs *Benefit eligibility is dependent on employment status.
