JOB TITLE: Special Education Teacher - Specialized Setting

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institutionExperience: Previous experience in a Special Education classroom settingLicenses or Certifications: Valid state certification in Special Education and content area

JOB DESCRIPTION:

As a Special Education Teacher at AIM, you will work with students who have Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in a dynamic public-school setting.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Special Education Teachers need to be proficient in core academic subjectsStrong understanding of curriculum and instructionAbility to effectively instruct students and manage classroom behaviorExceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Adapt lessons to meet the diverse needs of studentsDevelop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for a caseloadAssess student performance and track progressUpdate IEPs throughout the school year to reflect goals and achievementsTeach small groups, catering to academically at-risk students in various categoriesCollect, analyze, and use student data to inform instructional decisionsCollaborate with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators to discuss student progressPrepare students for transitions between grades and graduationImplement state learning standards and assessmentsSubmit weekly lesson plans and utilize technology for effective communicationImplement a clear and consistent behavior management system aligned with campus initiativesFoster a positive and enthusiastic learning environmentEstablish cooperative relationships with students and families based on trust and understandingHost necessary tutoring sessions to meet students’ needs

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Maintain emotional control under stressDaily attendance and punctuality are essential. Following a school day schedule.Possible district-wide travel; standing, stooping, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, lifting, and carryingAbility to adapt to diverse situations in the school environmentFacilitate Admission, Review, and Dismissal meetingsStrong family engagement and communicationRecord of results for academically at-risk students
