Job Description:
Summary
The Special Events Officer will be responsible for the planning and execution of internal and external hospital-related events. They will manage the development and implementation of all event logistics while building and strengthening relationships with hospital friends and patient families. Responsibilities include project management, correspondence, hospital tours and close contact with the development, public relations and media departments. Candidates should possess a demonstrated success for all aspects of special events, including development of event plans, budgets, sponsorships and committees. Applicants should possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills and have a commitment to serving children and families. Bachelor's degree in public relations, marketing or related field is required. Three to five years' experience in special event management is preferred. Should possess notable communication and organizational abilities that allow one to promote a vision, articulate a strategy, and inspire both a team of co-workers and a committed group of volunteers. Must be able to interact effectively with all levels of management and staff. Work well under pressure and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Duties/Responsibilities
+ Plan and execute a variety of activities including special events, community-sponsored and internal programs to meet the hospital’s goals and objectives.
+ Assume the lead role in coordinating internal and external events to increase hospital awareness and foster relationships within the community.
+ Tracks all expenses and maintains a cost-effective budget.
+ Interfaces with community, masons, donors, trustees, patient families, as well as hospital staff to provide public awareness information and accept financial gifts and non-monetary donations on behalf of the hospital.
+ Provides support in raising awareness through effective written communications.
+ Represents hospitals in a professional manner to individuals, corporations and community organizations outside the hospital.
+ Serves as project support to the Director of Special Events, as well as other Special Events Officers. Demonstrates basic knowledge of equipment use.
+ Must possess strong communication skills.
+ Must be able to work cooperatively with others to achieve common goals and contribute to the effectiveness of the team.
+ Must demonstrate a passion for doing what’s right for the organization.
+ Must be able to seek and understand customer needs and know how to satisfy them.
+ Must be assertive individual who takes initiative and leads by example. Must be a person who transforms an event through hard work, have a drive for excellence, and have a positive personality that creates enthusiasm and expectations for success.
+ This staff member may be required to perform other reasonably related duties assigned by the immediate supervisor or other management.

Required Skills/Abilities
+ Bachelor's degree in public relations, marketing or related field required.
