Department Summary:
The MITRE Corporation’s Operational Innovation and Modernization (OIM) Department (N153) supports development and delivery of integrated, agile mission capabilities that will enable the US and Coalition forces to operate at the speed of relevance. OIM’s focus involves the near-term modernization of fielded capabilities and development of next generation warfighter capabilities in all phases of systems evolution: from concept exploration, through experimentation and fielding.
To achieve this broad set of outcomes for our Government Sponsors, N153 seeks staff that have knowledge or interest in several related areas of expertise, including Special Operations Domain experience, BMC2, multi-domain sensor operations and architectures; Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT); Military Data Links; platform integration and end-to-end kill chain integration. These domain competencies are complemented by a variety of technical skills which enable program execution. MITRE and the OIM department work hand-in-hand with Government sponsors and the warfighter to serve as technical advisors bringing domain experience and state-of-the-art solutions to their most demanding operational challenges.
The OIM Department is looking for a Group Leader to head the Special Operations Forces and Operational Effects Group. The Group Leader will be critical to the continued development of our department personnel, capabilities, and business to achieve the department mission, advancing mission area technologies to be effective, secure, and resilient for Special Warfare Operations. The successful candidate will become an active member of the department leadership team and will have a track record of leading people, developing capabilities, critical thinking and acting innovatively and collaborating across boundaries. N153 Group Leaders will create collaborative relationships with other resource managers across the corporation to both establish a solid network to ensure their staff have varying opportunities to shape their own experience at MITRE and to leverage network connections to assist the department leadership in bringing required staff skills to N153 projects. Group leadership responsibilities are part-time, and the selected individual should expect to maintain impactful individual contribution in their mission and domain areas on direct or indirect MITRE project work. All N153 work programs are in direct support of warfighting organizations for Combat Air Forces and Mobility Air Forces. N153 is currently revising our strategy to bring our warfighter perspective back to other projects across the corporation. Successful candidates will join our team and immediately begin not only mentoring their staff on tackling emerging, high-priority challenges in the areas of all-domain joint operations but support the department leadership team in creating a vision and actionable strategy to enhance the warfighter perspective of all DoD projects across the corporation.
