Special Systems Technician- AZ - Campus Facilities

Summary

The Special Systems Technician provides general assistance to all departments/sections at the Midwestern University Campus.  This position will report to the Supervisor of Engineering.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Locksmith and key control duties including cutting, logging, and assigning keys Inspects, maintains, and repairs access control systems Inspects, maintains, and repairs fire alarm and life/safety systems Inspects, maintains, and repairs mass notification system Special events and classroom setups such as setting up tables and chairs, and opening/closing movable walls Provides general assistance to other areas of Campus Facilities Other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience                                             

High School diploma or general education degree (GED) and at least 2 years of locksmithing and/or experience in electrical/electronics experience, preferably related to the installation and repair of fire alarms and access control systems.  One-year certificate from college or technical school in a related field desired. An associate degree or equivalent from two-year college/technical school in a related field preferred.

Experience in any of the following is desired.

UTP/unshielded twisted pair cabling 110 Terminations Cable management Rack installation. Single/multimode fiber optic cable experience to include handling and terminations. Bicxy certification Access controls Mass notification systems Gate/door operators                       

Computer Skills                                           

Computer proficiency in MS Office, Word.  Excel knowledge is desired.
