Graphic Design Specialist (Production Focus)
Nationwide is looking for a talented graphic designer with a passion for creative production work – someone who has a broad skillset and range of experience but especially enjoys and excels at production work in support of a single brand.
As a production artist embedded in a team of writers and designers, you’ll play a crucial part in supporting the creative team's initiatives, using your expert level technical skills and strong knowledge of design principles to help elevate and execute high-quality work while driving brand consistency for our Fortune 100 brand.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who takes ownership of their assignments and can thrive in a collaborative, corporate environment. They have a keen eye for detail; executing projects that are high-quality, on-brand and error free.
In this role, you’ll work with a team of designers, writers and creative directors to execute a wide variety of marketing tactics, including print collateral, PowerPoint presentations, animated ads, web pages and just about everything in between. To be successful, you’ll need to have versatility and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Required Skills / Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or a closely related fieldMinimum of 5 years of full-time professional graphic design experienceStrong technical design and creative problem-solving skillsFoundational knowledge and experience with all aspects of digital and offset printing and web publishingExpertise in core Adobe Creative Suite applications (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat) and Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint). Experience with Workfront, Figma, Adobe Animate and Adobe After Effects preferredAbility and willingness to quickly learn proprietary applications necessary to build and deliver files correctlyKnowledge and experience designing to ADA accessibility standardsExcellent attention to detailCandidates located near a Nationwide campus will collaborate in office 2 days per week and enjoy the flexibility of remote work the remaining days.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Specializes in a core creative subject area, from copywriting or design to photography, video production or motion graphics. Delivers best-in-class creative work that reflects a solid command of their field and accurately expresses the Nationwide brand.
Heavily involved in conceptual development and translating ideas into creative work, which includes print, digital, information design, social media, motion design, photography and video. Work is primarily external-facing sales collateral, campaigns, content development and advertising.
Works on the development and implementation of creative initiatives. Incorporates critical thinking, agile problem solving and idea generation. Advocates for a user-focused approach to the work. Interacts with business partners during creative proposal presentations.
Contributes to a creative culture where an open exchange of ideas is valued. Stays current on creative industry tools, technology, brand vision, creative approach and popular culture. Sees the big picture, explores possibilities and encourages new ideas.
Translates a foundational knowledge of a business unit's vision and strategic priorities into creative work that speaks to and connects with the target audience.
Understands thoroughly the creative processes and is responsible for executing work efficiently. Adheres to timelines and actively communicates with peers and leaders to ensure projects remain on schedule.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to Manager or Director. This is an individual contributor role.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate degree in art, visual design, communications, journalism, advertising or related creative services field preferred
Experience: Typically 5 or more years demonstrated experience in copywriting, visual design, video production, motion graphics or photography developing work from concept through completion.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Specializes in one creative field (copywriting, visual design, photography, video production or motion graphics) with the required technical skills. Proven ability to problem solve at any stage throughout the creative process and efficiently adapt to changes. Skilled at time management and attention to detail. Understands integrated marketing principles, including digital, storytelling and content creation. Possesses empathy, emotional intelligence, collaboration skills and is able to work in team environment. Strong visual, verbal and written communication skills; experience delivering creative ideas.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and Human Resources Business Partner.
