Job Description: As a member of the L3H FOS team, your primary focus would be the development of Specialized Test Equipment used to test product through all phases of design and production. You would also assume the responsibility of presenting designs to internal and external customers for review, and addressing technical issues. A solid understanding of circuit theory, components, firmware, software and troubleshooting skills is required. Essential Functions: Development Design and Development Focus Areas: + Specialized Systems: Design and development of electronic, electro-mechanical, and mechanical products. + Special Test Equipment: Creation and implementation of specialized test equipment for the above products. + Analog and Digital Circuit Design: Extensive experience in designing circuits, including microcontrollers, data acquisition, filtering/conditioning, and printed circuit design. + Measurement Error Analysis: Proficient in analyzing measurement errors and ensuring system-level engineering accuracy. + CAE Tools Utilization: Skilled in using Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) tools such as Altium and SPICE. + Laboratory Equipment Proficiency: Expertise in using laboratory equipment like Digital Multimeters (DMMs), oscilloscopes, and function generators for circuit design, verification, and troubleshooting. + Embedded Firmware: Experience in creating and working with embedded firmware to control hardware. + Serial Communication Protocols: Knowledgeable in various serial communication protocols, including RS-232, RS-422, SPI, I2C, and UART. + Power Supply and Design: Ability to work with power supply design, including power conversion concepts (AC/DC, DC/DC, DC/AC, Linear, and Switching Supplies). + Sensors and Converters: Experience with sensors and converters such as temperature sensors, accelerometers, differential pressure sensors, gyroscopes, ADCs, and DACs. + Digital Building Blocks: Proficient in working with basic digital building blocks like logic gates, flip flops, timers, and filters. + Modeling and Simulation: Utilization of modeling and simulation utilities like SPICE and MATLAB/Simulink. Project Management and Documentation: + Leading Projects: Leading large-scale projects from start to completion, including preparing and participating in design reviews (internal and external). + Engineering Change and Configuration Management: Managing engineering changes and configuration processes. + Technical Documentation: Creating technical documentation such as engineering drawings, calibration and validation procedures, and operating instructions. + Component Selection and Circuit Analysis: Using component selection, circuit analysis, circuit design, and layout to provide module design and troubleshooting. + Standard Lab Equipment: Proficient in using standard lab equipment like oscilloscopes, function generators, and meters. + Microsoft Office Applications: Skilled in using Microsoft Office applications for documentation and project management. + Configuration Control: Understanding proper Configuration and Data Management. + Design Implementation: Building/acquiring products and subassemblies/components according to the approved design baseline. + Integration and Testing: Ensuring product integration and testing at various levels of the product hierarchy, performing verification and validation, and maintaining integration plans and procedures. Qualifications: + Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related Electrical Engineering experience. + Prior experience in basic analog building blocks including differential amplifiers, op amps, LDOs, filters, and data converters + Experience in general design best practices (EMI suppression, ESD protection, and Short circuit protection) + Experience with schematic capture and/or board layout utilities (Altium, PADS, etc.) + Experience in Software Development (C#, VB, .NET, LabVIEW, etc.) + Experience in microcontroller and CPLD/FPGA Firmware Development (Embedded C, Verilog, etc.). + Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance and be eligible to obtain higher clearances. Preferred Additional Skills: + Skilled in basic analog building blocks including differential amplifiers, op amps, LDOs, filters, and data converters. + Skilled in basic digital building blocks including logic gates, flip flops, timers, and filters. + Experience with power supply and power conditioning design. + Experience with power conversion concepts (AC/DC, DC/DC, and DC/AC, Linear and Switching Supplies). + Experience with serial communication buses including UART, SPI, and I2C. + Experience with Sensors and Converters (Temperature sensors, accelerometers, differential pressure sensors, gyroscopes, ADCs, DACs, etc.). + Experience with general design best practices (EMI suppression, ESD protection, and Short circuit protection). + Experience with module design including component selection, circuit analysis, circuit design, and layout. + Skilled in troubleshooting using standard lab equipment (oscilloscopes, function generators, meters, etc.). + Skilled in modeling and simulation utilities (SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, etc. ). + Proficient in schematic capture and/or board layout utilities (Altium, PADS, etc.). + Ability to lead a large-scale technical project from start to completion with minimal guidance. + Proficient in preparing and participating in design reviews (internal and external). + Skilled in creating Technical Documentation (Engineering Drawings, Calibration Procedures, Validation Procedures, Operating Instructions, etc.). + Proficient in Engineering Change and Configuration Management processes. + Skilled in Software Development (C#, VB, .NET, LabVIEW, etc.). + Skilled in microcontroller and CPLD/FPGA Firmware Development (Embedded C, Verilog, etc.). + Proficient in Wiring Diagram and Cable Assembly Design. + BSEE, BSCompE or BSEET with 7+ years of relevant work experience (post-graduate education also considered).
