Specialist, Global Corporate Citizenship

About the role

Working within AIG’s Global Corporate Citizenship team and with AIG colleagues around the world, the person in this role must demonstrate a proven track record of involving colleagues in corporate responsibility programs that fully align with businesses objectives while providing guidance and support for engagement throughout the enterprise.  AIG’s Corporate Citizenship Specialist supports AIG's entire Global Corporate Citizenship team through successful project management, event management, research, reporting and communications with a strong emphasis on employee engagement, resource development and collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders.  The Specialist is responsible for work primarily related to AIG’s signature Corporate Citizenship programs: Employee volunteerism including Skills-Based and hands-on opportunities, AIG Compassionate Colleagues Fund (Employee Assistance Program), Matching Grants Program, Museum Memberships Program. Daily tasks are conducted in close partnership with AIG colleagues globally who represent Legal, HR, Communications, Sustainability, DE&I, and global Business/Function units, in addition to nonprofit partners and others.

Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Events:

Provide significant logistical and administrative support leading up to and onsite at volunteer and pro bono activities, including clinics, training and volunteer events.

Develop toolkits, FAQs and other reference resources for employees to use as they give back to their local communities.

Communicate with local global charitable organizations to develop and execute community outreach campaigns, projects, and special events.

Provide support to AIG’s global networks of colleagues responsible for coordinating volunteer events and skills-based volunteer projects/opportunities.  Ensure business and community impact are captured for reporting.

Represent company at community events, professional associations, and corporate functions, when appropriate.

Communications:

Develop content for communications that engage employees in and explain/promote AIG’s Corporate Citizenship work.

Draft relevant internal and external content to be used in multiple outlets, support review/approval tracking.

Work with internal stakeholders and non-profit organizations to develop and amplify communications about AIG's support for funded projects and/or employee engagement impact.

Provide content to be leveraged in the company’s annual reports and surveys.

Programs:

Develop resources to promote, recognize, and incentivize employee engagement in Global Corporate Citizenship activities.

Build trusting internal relationships and support business and functional teams that participate in corporate citizenship programs, as well as foster collaboration with volunteers across AIG’s businesses to expand and enhance programming.

Coordinate and manage pro bono initiatives, including intake, project scoping documentation, matching volunteers with opportunities, and tracking progress and outcomes.

Conduct evaluative research on potential partners, including benchmarking, best practices and anticipated impact.

Promote understanding of and adherence to Corporate Citizenship policies and processes.

Collect, analyze and develop reports on project and program data.

Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding charitable contributions, matching grants and volunteer events, providing full customer service support in response to inquiries from AIG employees, external nonprofit/nongovernmental organizations and vendors.

Collaborate with business and functional leaders, as well as AIG’s DE&I Team and Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to foster areas of strategic alignment.

Operations and Administration:

Monitor program metrics and prepare regular reports highlighting participation, outcomes and community impact

Draft and monitor updates to policies, procedures, toolkits, FAQ documents, guidelines and additional frameworks.

Submit charitable contribution requests on behalf of the Citizenship team.

Provide support for the management of AIG’s employee volunteer/giving portal including issues tracking, user acceptance testing and employee customer service. Support global technology and regulatory requirements between Corporate Citizenship, IT and third-party vendors.

Monitor trends, issues, and best practices related to social responsibility and community development to inform future strategies.

Other Corporate Citizenship duties as needed.

What we’re looking for:

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience)

4+ years of experience working in a corporate or non-profit organization with a focus on special events, corporate citizenship, legal & governance and communications.

Familiarity with Skills-Based/Pro Bono volunteer programs, nonprofit organizations or community/business engagement initiatives

Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills

Superior communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders

Strong project management skills, ability to manage several complex projects at once

Experience with Citizenship giving systems – managing third party vendors, back-office data and reporting

Ability to understand basic accounting principles

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Excellent communication skills (both oral and written, including digital)

Ability to influence, drive change, build coalitions and gain support

Excellent analytical, data visualization and critical thinking skills

High comfort level with supporting and interacting with senior management

Ability to work well in a fast-paced setting which blends both corporate and non-profit cultures

Ability to navigate through a complex enterprise while working independently and as a highly collaborative and effective team member

Attention to detail, consistent and accurate follow-through on projects

On occasion, ability to manage and/or attend local community events which may take place during the evenings or on weekends

Ability to lift 25 lbs.

For positions based in NYC, the base salary range is $88,000- $98,000.

For positions based in Jersey City, the base salary range is $80,000 - $92,000.
