SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE OF ROLE:
Actively contribute towards Sterling site achieving a continuous improvement model of health, safety, security and environmental management. Performance through support, development and coaching of the HSS & Environmental staff, contractors, employees, and management to meet the required HSS & Environmental Standards, processes, and procedures.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Health
Ensures that occupational exposure monitoring and management meets all compliance requirements as well as the AGA Health Standards. Coordinates and undertakes the Occupational Hygiene monitoring. Participates in and lead initiatives to create a healthy work environment and healthy workers. Reviews the performance of the health programs and the occupational exposure monitoring program to identify potential areas of improvement. Undertakes data analysis to ensure QA/QC of monitoring data.
Safety & Environment
Undertakes field inspections to coach and support the management of risk to reduce injury potential (FLRA, JHA and Procedures). Investigates injury, incident and near miss events to identify causes, contributing factors and corrective and preventative actions. Facilitates and contributes to the AGA Safety Management System including the delivery of Management Plans, Procedures and forms that support the SMS. Analyses health and safety and environmental data to identify trends and ensure data quality and control. Collaborates with site management in complying with OSHA, MSHA, EPA and other regulations and standards. Prepares appropriate reports and presentations for management. Conducts detailed safety & environmental assessments including task observations, workplace standard inspections, equipment inspections, audits and procedure reviews. Develop, Implement, and Manage site Emergency Response Team.
Training
Assists with the development of HSS & Environmental training in subject matter areas of expertise. Leads HSS & Environmental training activities as required.
Other
Performs other duties as required including “on-call” support.
Technical skills and Knowledge:
Expertise in chemical analysis, equipment & process. Risk Management. HSS technical writing.
Leadership & Management Competencies
Strong leadership skills ability to effectively communicate.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate or bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety or closely related field. Current First Aid & CPR certified.
REQUIRED GENERAL KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
5 years' experience in Mining or related field OSHA & MSHA Regulations Health, Safety, & Security Management Systems Industrial Hygiene practices Mine Security HSS & Environmental Auditing Emergency Preparedness & Response
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Thursday 6:00am to 4pm. On-call evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. As per operational requirements.
COMPENSATION:
Base Salary Range $76,000 - $110,000
