Job Description:
The Surveillance and Automation Solutions (S&AS) business area within L3Harris Technologies is seeking a dynamic systems engineer with aerospace and telecommunication software system design domain experience. This role would support air traffic surveillance systems development and will perform systems engineering activities in support of new and ongoing air traffic surveillance projects.
Essential Functions:
The primary responsibilities of the role include the following:
Assisting in the technical planning, design, cost and risk, supportability, and delivery of total air traffic surveillance systemsPerforming systems analysis and design activities for large air traffic surveillance systems.Assisting in designing software system architecture and conduct subsystem decompositions.Coordinating with Network planning engineers to architect telecommunication network designs.Performing functional analysis, software subsystem decomposition, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.Supporting air traffic surveillance systems throughout the lifecycle development.Creating and managing system requirements in DOORS together with MBSE models.Present design and analysis results to peers, management, and customers.Must be willing and able to obtain an FAA Position of Public Trust clearance.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or RF Engineering and minimum 4 -6 years of prior engineering experience. Graduate Degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2 -4 years of prior engineering experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8-10years of prior engineering experience.3 years system life-cycle development experiences with aerospace and telecommunication systems including system design, development, integration, analysis, and verification.Preferred Additional Skills:
Direct experience with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) surveillance systems.Experience using Cameo Systems Modeler tool suite to include Teamwork Cloud.An understanding of current/future air traffic surveillance systems and architectures.Experience in presenting and demonstrating MBSE modeling to potential customers.Experience in presenting and demonstrating MBSE models during technical exchange meeting with stakeholders.Experience and understanding regarding all 9 SySML diagram types.Programming experience with C/C++, Python, MATLAB, etc.RTCA DO-278B compliance experience.Relevant certifications such as INCOSE® (ASEP, CSEP, ESEP) or MBSE.Experience with micro services architecture and cloud architecture.Experience with safety analysis, risk analysis, and system performance analysis.Experience with network security.Experience in air surveillance systems, including radar, sensors, and data fusion technologies.Please be aware many of our positions require the ability to obtain a security clearance.
