Specialist Analyst, Regulatory & Investment Compliance (Temporary - 18 months)

About the role

Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer and Director of Governance, you will actively collaborate in the systematic monitoring of activities within Intact Investment Management (IIM) to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, organizational policies, as well as ethical and investment rules. You will also carry out the audit plan established by IIM’s Compliance and Governance team and contribute to operational risk management activities and the review of auditor or regulator activities. The Compliance and Governance team is looking for someone who is passionate about financial markets and ready to contribute to a variety of functions and projects in close collaboration with the Compliance and Governance team. This is a temporary position for a period of 18 months.

What you’ll do here:

Coordinate and participate in compliance audits and monitoring (testing the application of the compliance program and internal controls) and, when necessary, in the follow-up of corrective actions.Perform various tasks such as documentation of policies, procedures, processes and testing programs, regulatory research, compliance reporting, programming and maintenance of our investment compliance system (Charles River), updating of the rule dictionary, registering representatives with regulatory authorities, review and approval of personal transactions.Participate in the proxy voting process and analyze voting proposals in accordance with the voting policy that incorporates ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) factors.Participate in the class actions’ processes.Help with the tracking of operational risk and regulatory risk incidents.Oversee and participate in the review of tasks related to the employee compliance program, including reviews of personal transactions, gifts and entertainment, other potential conflicts of interest, as well as initial, annual and ad hoc certifications.Prepare various compliance reports required by clients, regulatory authorities and the firm’s internal governance structure.Perform compliance reviews of investments and trading desk.Prepare and deliver compliance training and presentations to employees.Assist the team with compliance projects.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

You will work a 35-hour week in a stimulating environment in our downtown Montreal office (with the option to work in hybrid mode, meaning partly in the office and partly from home, with a minimum number of days that must be in the office). We are a group of more than 85 employees that stands out for its energy and strong team spirit.  

REQUIREMENTS

You have a university degree in business administration, accounting, finance, law or a related field, or a combination of relevant experience and education.You have at least ten years of compliance/audit experience in the field of securities/investment management.You have knowledge of the financial market and regulations applicable to portfolio managers registered with securities regulators.You have good problem-solving skills and sound judgment.You enjoy collaborating with co-workers and partners (team spirit).You have a good command of Microsoft tools (particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams).You have an excellent knowledge of how an investment management company’s processes work.You have a good knowledge of systems used in the compliance management of an investment management company (e.g., Bloomberg, Charles River Investment Management System, etc.).You share our values of integrity, respect, being customer driven, excellence and generosity.For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
