Your impact

The Mine Engineering Specialist ensure mines plans are achievable and risks managed through robust mine design and planning practices, including the peer review process.  The Mine Engineering Specialist also acts as functional leads in support of major and minor underground related study projects, provides technical support to Undergound Mine Engineers globally, and participates in the development of Newmont’s Mine Engineering talent.
 

As part of our team you will As the functional lead, Coordinate and handle the execution of underground mine engineering work supporting Major and Minor Studies ongoing in the Newmont portfolio.  Be responsible for developing the functional scopes of work, identifying key objects and deliverables and delivering the functional section of Study reports.Provide technical support and training to Site based Mine Engineers regarding processes, procedures, best practices, design methodology, capability building and software support.  Train engineering staff, globally, on new technologies and their applications and document the implementation and performance of new technologies to guide future technology strategies.For both study projects and site/regional-based requests, facilitate risk assessment workshops regarding underground mine designs and planning with key stakeholders.  Provide recommendations for risk management based on review findings.  Collaborate with safety and environmental teams to ensure comprehensive risk planning.  Document risk review processes and outcomes for accountability and continuous learning.  Report on risk review activities and their impact on project outcomes to senior management.  Review corrective actions and enhancements based on monitoring results.Participate as the Mining Functional expert, in routine Reserves and Resource governance reviews, as requested/led by the Reserves governance team.  Using knowledge and expertise in the area of Reserves and Resource reporting, perform the Mining Functional review of a sites Reserves and Resources, identifying inconsistencies with Newmont Standards and Guidelines, risks in the reported Reserves and Resources, potentially recommending revisions to the Reserves and Resources and provide a written review of findings and the processes used to review a sites Reserves and Resources.Perform Functional Technical reviews of Budget Plans and report findings to the MD's, Regional Leadership, GM's and Group Head of MRM, including probability assessment and risks and improvement opportunities to the plan being reviewed.  Document feedback and recommendations from peer reviews and ensure follow-up actions are implemented.Train mine engineers, globally, on the peer review process and the importance of constructive feedback.  Foster a culture of transparency and continuous learning through active participation in peer reviews.Report on study findings to senior management and team members, providing strategic recommendations based on outcomes.Evaluate global mine planning applications and software against standard methodology, with a focus on process automation and streamlining of planning horizons, to pinpoint opportunities for process improvement within the Mine Engineering functionWhen requested, support the design and planning of underground operations to optimize resource extraction and minimize environmental impact.  Collaborate with geotechnical and mining engineers to develop safe and effective mine strategies.Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards associated with underground operations.    Report on the effectiveness of developments in underground mining technology.Prerequisites for success in this role Degree qualified Mining Engineer. The salary range offered for this role is USD $108,000 to 141,750. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.  The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.  

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
