What is the opportunity?

The primary purpose for this position is to provide oversight and execute risk assessments associated processing of liability Instructions related to voluntary corporate Action events. Core responsibilities will be to support the processing of corporate actions for RBC’s internal inventory and trading accounts. You will partner closely with the Corporate Actions department and management in mitigating department risks and ensuring that all voluntary and mandatory corporate actions are processed correctly for RBC’s internal trading accounts

Incumbent will provide training, coaching, and development for team members. 
In addition, this position supports escalated complex customer service situations, completes process oversight, provides new initiative/process implementation support, and maintains accurate department procedures/reference materials. Incumbent must understand regulatory and organizational risks associated with work processes, how work is processed from beginning to end, and dependencies to other areas and departments. Work is completed under minimal supervision. Incumbent will address escalated questions independently, seeking assistance from Operations resources as appropriate. Position contains increased elements of risk which are managed through operational reviews, system checks, and adherence to procedures.

What will you do?

Direct time sensitive, complex and/or highly specialized daily workflows related to functions associated with instructions received from internal trading teams and external counterparties on voluntary Corporate Actions events and conversions to ensure accurate and timely processing, to ensure department service levels are met.Establish and maintain credible, professional relationships with internal business partners and external customers and transfer agents. Participate in department, firm and industry projects.Address escalated Issues independently, provide risk oversight, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, Seeking assistance from Senior Manager or other Operations resources as appropriate.Accept and successfully execute change while supporting employees through the process and keeping them focused on business priorities.Execute a range of department risk mitigation checks on mandatory and voluntary corporate actions to ensure each is processed correctly.Lead various projects as assigned by management to improve department efficiency or reduce the risk involved in the processing of capital markets corporate actions.Cultivate and strengthen partnerships with internal and external partiesResolve conflicts and address concerns promptly to maintain trust and credibilityMonitor and report on emerging risks, ensuring timely escalation when necessaryAnalyze complex problems to identify root causes and actionable solutions

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

In-depth knowledge and understanding of corporate actions, financial services, brokerage operational processes, and regulatory policies.Must have Series 7 or 99 or proven ability to obtain within 120 days of hire.Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast paced and deadline driven environment with the ability to provide direction to other team members through verbal or written communication.Needs to be self-motivated with high attention to details, and possess excellent customer service, organizational, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.4+ years back-office brokerage or transfer agent experience within corporate actions.Strong interpersonal and communication skillsExpertise in risk identification and mitigation strategies

Nice-to-have

Previous experience in developing procedures and policies.Prior experience in a leadership role.Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or related field.In depth knowledge of Broadridge BPS system, Liabilities, and Windows-based software products such as Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.
