Summary: The Construction Safety Specialist (CSS) The CSS will apply Energy Transfer's (ET) policies and procedures to promote Health and Safety programs and provide adequate support to ET's Engineering and Construction business unit. The CSS will interface with E&C project field personnel and contractors to ensure both groups work collaboratively and maintain a high level of safety performance among the contractor workforce.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Provide project support for E&C-managed projects, including: Attend planning and kickoff meetings Assist with contract safety personnel management. Conduct Veriforce contractor reviews as needed Review contractor Health and Safety documentation and processes and communicate compliance/gaps regarding regulatory requirements. Conduct periodic safety assessments & inspections for ongoing projects to ensure safety procedures are in place and reduce the likelihood of safety deficiencies. Assist with interpretation of procedures, regulatory standards, and implementation. Work collaboratively with Ops Support Safety to ensure consistency of contractor safety processes and applications. Promote best practices and support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks, raise safety awareness, and improve safe work practices. Review and support investigations of incidents, near-miss accidents, and occupational injuries to determine causes and preventive measures. Interface with Field Safety Inspectors and Contractor Safety Representatives to ensure project safety compliance. Plan, lead, and participate in job site safety meetings. Gather and implement feedback regarding quality concerns and improvement.

Requirements: 

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

Bachelor’s degree (BS) in a technical field (engineering/science, or occupational safety and health sciences) or additional equivalent experience. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Safety and Health Official (CSHO) Is preferred but not required. Minimum 6 plus years of related experience and training 3 to 5 years’ experience in construction experience Knowledge of relevant industry regulations, standards, and recommended practices (e.g., API, DOT, OSHA PSM, PHMSA). Ability to interpret and effectively communicate technical documents and legislative references. Proficient skills in programs including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet Explorer Auditing HSE systems experience Analytical and problem-solving ability Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously. Demonstrate leadership and project management skills. Ability to work with minimal supervision Proficient presentation skills Desire to assume increasing levels of leadership responsibility. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing As much as 50% travel may be required, including overnight travel. Subject to call out 24 hours a day/7 day a week. Required to respond to calls before and after regular working hours. Visits to industrial/field-based settings may include hazardous materials and chemicals, extreme temperature conditions, and loud machinery and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
