Key Responsibilities:

The Trade Compliance Specialist oversees daily execution of all United trade compliance processes and systems to ensure compliance with all U.S. Government authorizations, exemptions, and exceptions. Maintains regulatory awareness of domestic and foreign rulemaking and works with internal partners and regulatory authorities to design and implement compliance systems that ensure United’s compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Responsible for drafting and submitting authorization applications to regulatory authorities on behalf of United and to maintain compliance with all import/export licenses, agreements, and certifications.

Implement trade-related activities leading to United’s ongoing compliance with U.S. and foreign laws and regulationsParticipate in and, where appropriate, lead projects or initiatives of varying complexitiesIdentify procedural improvements to United’s trade-compliance activities and coordinate with relevant collaborators on implementationAssist with cross-functional projects related to trade compliance activities, transactions, and obligationsCollaborate with regulatory authorities, file applications, and handle agreements to document United’s compliance with applicable regulationsPrepare and submit authorization applications for approval to the U.S. Department of State’s Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC), the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP)Generate, maintain, and monitor U.S. Government import/export licenses, agreements, and certificationsCoordinate amongst the trade compliance team and with internal partners to understand key business objectives and to develop import and export authorizations that allow for the efficient and timely export of technology, technical data, hardware, and servicesConduct reviews and audits of United’s import compliance policies and procedures to maintain compliance with the latest applicable laws and regulationsEnsure compliance for all aspects of U.S. Government authorizations, exemptions, and exceptionsProactively identify and communicate potential gaps to the trade compliance team and recommend and implement improvementsManage and maintain records in accordance with U.S. Government regulatory requirements and internal policiesConduct training and provide operational advice on compliant execution of trade and sanctions regulationsTrack status and provide reports and metrics associated with trade compliance activitiesQualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):Bachelor’s degree in Business, International Trade, Global Supply Chain Management or related field or 4 years of relevant work experience3+ years in the field of customs or international tradeExperience with U.S. import regulations (19 CFR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR)Experience in the application of international trade-related regulations, EAR, US import regulations in high-volume environmentsExperience with Technical Assistance Agreement (TAA) and Manufacturing Licensing Agreement (MLA) preparation and administrationSolution-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong interpersonal and written communication skillsSelf-Motivated and improvement-orientedTravel up to 20%Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorshipSuccessful completion of interview required to meet job qualificationReliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the positionWhat will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):5+ years in the field of customs or international tradeExperience with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and regulations administered by OFACExperience with trade-related licenses and exceptionsKnowledge of DECCS, SNAP-R and/or OCR EASEKnowledge of, and experience in, the Aerospace or Airline industryLicensed Customs Broker

The base pay range for this role is $79,800 - 108,790.

The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
