Under the supervision of the Manager, assist in planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating the activities occurring in the department by performing clerical and receptionist duties and maintaining the physical environment of the area. Schedules patients for procedures, audits intra – operative data in computer system, and processes patient charges.

Responsibilities Correctly and accurately maintains patient medical record found in the Electronic Health Record.Answers telephone, takes messages, and communicates messages to the appropriate person, usingappropriate telephone etiquette.Utilizes computer systems to schedule procedures, produces schedules to provide information necessary to areas.Reviews operative schedule for appropriateness, correct spellings and other factors that may affect the schedule.Maintains statistics/logs as required by the unit Manager/Director.Files paperwork in appropriate areas as directed.Assist in performance improvement (PI) activities by serving on PI teams as warranted, assisting with PI measures, and supporting/implementing changes necessary for improvement.Maintains well organized, well-supplied, clean department.Performs initial and annual competency per job class.

Qualifications

Computer and/or computer software knowledge or experience required. High school diploma or equivalent, medical terminology education and computer skills required. Approved previous experience in clerical functions or completion of in-service education classes, high school education or equivalent. Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.

Interpersonal relationships: constant contact with others (telephone, face-to-face or otherwise) is a must in order to perform this job. May also deal with unpleasant or angry people.  Includes receiving delegation, working with team members, addressing conflict, and communicating with all types of personalities specifically over the telephone. Physical work conditions: Includes exposure hazardous materials and/or cleaning solutions, close proximity to coworkersStructural job characteristics: Includes consequence of error regarding patient safety (e.g. correct patient, correct laterality, correct procedure, correct physician) Importance of repeating same tasks and being very exact and highly accurate are imperative. Work schedule is regular for job.

Ability: Ability to reach reasonable distances in any direction.
