Job Title: Specimen Handler
Job Description

- Take samples from processors after labeling and bring to handling area- Bring samples to centrifuging area- Handle the enclosed samples with PPE but do not directly touch open swabs or perform tests on the samples- Support urine pour-offs prior to testing- Move samples between buildings, sometimes walking outside between other labs on campus to cart or carry samples around- Multi-task between different specimen handling functions- Collect specimens from all Processing stations and deliver to the specimen handling area- Understand strict quality regulations and adhere to prescribed SOP- Prepare SST specimens for RSA and/or for manual pour-off- Place specimens in centrifuge for spinning- Perform all required maintenance procedures- Document all issues into the logbook and communicate problems to upper management- Manual pour-off operator will process and pour off specimens manually- Sort processed specimens into racks for delivery into the lab by pour-off groups- Carry and push at least 30 pounds around the laboratory- Stand for long periods of time, lots of walking for sample movement between stations

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 4 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in ELMWOOD PARK, New Jersey.

Work Environment

Standing for entirety of shift. Handle samples with PPE. Move samples after processing to different areas of the laboratory to be tested. Pouring off urine samples and then sending the rest of the sample to the mapping area for storage. Carry samples to different lab departments prior to testing or post-testing. Carry 10-15 pounds. Work in one area and rarely move to a different building/work station. However, if you work in certain buildings, you may have to walk between buildings outside to move samples around. Shift information: see tracker for open shifts, Training for 2+ weeks on Mon-Fri with the same hours.
