Specimen Processing Specialist

Labcorp is seeking a Specimen Processing Specialist to join our team at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA.  This position will work with internal customers, patients & physician offices to ensure that all patient care needs are addressed accurately and efficiently. The Specimen Processing Specialist will provide product education and handle a wide variety of questions while providing market leading services. The ideal candidate will be passionate about improving health and improving lives.

Work Schedule: 1st shift, Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4pm

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testingResponsible for slide filing, slide scanning, and block filingRoutes specimens by type to various staging areas or designated departmentSpin samples, pour urine tubes, and create frozen samplesPick up and deliver samples to clients/hospitalsUnpack and route specimen to their respective staging areasAccurately identify and label specimens Pack and ship specimen to proper testing facilities Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples Process all necessary paperwork to process and submit specimenData entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner Perform audits in order to resolve any outstanding issues

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalentPrior medical/clinical laboratory experience is preferredComfortable handling biological specimens Ability to accurately identify specimens Experience working in a team environment Strong data entry and organizational skillsHigh level of attention to detailProficient in MS Office Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.Able to pass a standardized color blind test
