In-Patient Speech Language Pathologist - Per Diem
*The PRN SLP will cover week-days as needed and one weekend per month. Candidates must have availability to cover Mondays.*

Summary:
Under the general supervision of the rehab manager or supervisor, performs therapy examinations, develops treatment plans and goals, and applies interventions in accordance with the Standards of Practice of the profession, applicable state licensure regulations, and hospital policies and procedures to a variety of patients ranging from newborn to geriatric in age in an acute care setting. Opportunity for rotation to outpatient sites may exist per operational need.
Responsibilities:
1. Performs therapy examinations, develops treatment plans, and establishes treatment goals with patient input. 2. Provides care to special populations including Total Joint Replacement and Stroke as per hospital protocols. 3. Delegates and supervises patient related tasks to assistants, aides, and support personnel. Supervises students as assigned. 4. Collaborates with other disciplines to provide coordinated interdisciplinary patient care. 5. Supports excellence of the organization and customer satisfaction. 6. Contributes to the ongoing professional development of self, department, and the network. 7. Manages time effectively and demonstrates willingness to work a variety of scheduling patterns within individual control hours. 8. Makes independent decisions within the scope of defined job description, level of knowledge, skills and abilities but seeks guidance as necessary for performance of duties. 9. Contributes to peer review as required. 10. Utilizes evidence based practice and ASHA guidelines for patient care. 11. Meets or exceeds productivity and documentation requirements. 12. Accepts and utilizes feedback in a constructive manner and demonstrates respect for others in open and constructive communications. 13. Accepts other duties as assigned. Adheres to all departmental and hospital policies. 14. Performs instrumental swallow exams including Modified Barium Swallow and Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallow studies. 15. Maintain and Model Nuvance Health Foundational Values (Personal, Imaginative, Agile, Connected). 16. Performs other duties as required.
Education: MASTER'S LVL DGRE
Other Information:
Education: Master�s degree required. ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence or candidacy for ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence required. Current license to practice Speech Language Pathology in Connecticut: Successful completion of minimum educational requirements for licensure including all clinical practice and comprehensive examinations. Temporary licensure may be considered at the discretion of the department manager. Current CPR Certification Meets continuing education requirements for state Licensure & CPR Certification Prefer: Previous experience delivering comprehensive care to patients with dysfunction secondary to disability, disease, or injury in accordance with professional standards of practice. Prefer: Previous experience in an acute care setting with diagnoses including pulmonary, oncology, multi-trauma, neurological, surgical, and medically complex patients. Prefer: Previous Experience performing instrumental swallow exams including Modified Barium Swallow and Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallow studies.

Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity
Occupational: Significant occupational risk
Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort. May exert up to 50 lbs. force
Physical Environment: Some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
