What You Will Do

Cadia Healthcare (Hyattsville, MD) seeks a Speech Language Pathologist to administer screenings and comprehensive evaluations of assigned patients, develop appropriate and skilled plans of care for restoration, adaptation, compensation or maintenance of impairments and disabilities, and act as a resident advocate to support center initiatives and outreach to promote the highest practical level of functional verbal communication, auditory comprehension, cognition, swallowing, voice, fluency, secondary language skills, quality of life, safety and dignity for all residents and outpatients. Specific duties include: administer screenings and comprehensive evaluations; complete documentation related to the screening and evaluation of a patient; administer standardized tests/measures for each evaluation; develop or revise treatment programs; use evidence-based treatment techniques to facilitate progress/improvement and a discharge disposition; use computer applications to assist with communication and cognition impairments; educate patients and their families/caregivers on their disorder/disease; participate in care plan meetings and home assessments; and assist with treatments at neighboring facilities based on census. Position requires Maryland license in Speech-Language Pathology. Position requires occasional travel to other Cadia Healthcare locations in Maryland.


Requirements

Position requires a Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Communication Disorders and Sciences, or a closely related field of study, plus 3 years of experience in the job offered or similar position as a speech-language pathologist with exposure to patients of varying age groups. Must have 3 years of experience with each of the following: working in a skilled nursing facility or hospital serving a medically complex adult population; and working with adults requiring tracheostomy or mechanical ventilation. Must be a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist in Maryland. Must be willing to occasionally travel to other Cadia Healthcare locations in Maryland.
