Under the general supervision of the Radiology Director, the Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for the provision of speech therapy services in the acute care, outpatient, and Skilled Nursing setting.
QualificationsMINIMUM EDUCATION:
Has earned a Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology. Obtain and maintain continuing education requirements in accordance with state guidelines.
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:
Recommend minimum 1 year hospital experience including modified barium swallow studies.
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Must have Certificate of Clinical Competence and State of Texas License to practice Speech-Language Pathology. Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association
required. Valid Drivers’ license and reliable transportation necessary as driving between campuses is required.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
The Speech Language Pathologist must be able to diagnose, treat and provide management services to patients with communication disorders including speech, language, voice, fluency and literacy difficulties or patients’ with physical problems with eating or swallowing.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Includes working rotational shifts, holidays, and weekends as needed. May be required to participate in “on call” basis staffing. Schedules and work shifts may be changed in respect to patient procedure demands and facility census. During low census or low procedure volumes, staff may be required to rotate days off without pay.
