Job Summary: Provides cognitive/communication/swallow services to the medical center's acute care, outpatient, and inpatient Rehab. All duties and responsibilities are to be carried out with empathy and compassion toward patients and their families as well as co-workers.

Minimum Requirements: 

Master’s Degree (M.A. or M.S.) from a university program certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.  Holder of a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in the area of speech-language pathology and N.C. license is preferred; however, suitable CFY candidates will be considered.  Must possess specific/current knowledge in the field of speech-language pathology including adult neurogenic communication disorders and swallowing disorders.  The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her assigned unit.  The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's departmental policies and procedures.
