Our team of Speech Language Pathologists have Certificates of Clinical Competence through the American Speech Language Hearing Association. This internationally recognized credential demonstrates that our commitment to providing top notch care to those seeking help with communication and swallowing disorders.

In this role, you will be responsible for the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders in patients of all ages. In the in-patient unit, you will be working with individuals under who require diagnostic, treatment, and rehabilitative care planning (as needed). You will also be helping to improve the patient experience/quality of care by responding to any of the patient’s special, physical, emotional, spiritual and/or age-specific related needs. How You Will Fulfill Your Potential

Responsibilities

· Screen and/or evaluate speech, language or swallowing disorders in patients of all ages according to clinical guidelines and department policies using procedures which are appropriate for the patient’s age, skill level and medical diagnosis

· Formulate diagnosis, prognosis, recommendations and communicate these to patient, family and other appropriate professionals

· Provide education and communication to patients, families, other professionals and the community regarding communication and swallowing disorders

· Formulate goals and implement therapy techniques and procedures that are appropriate for the patients age, skill level and diagnosis

· Maintain appropriate documentation including evaluation reports, goals, daily therapy log, and patient notes

· Supervise graduate students in Speech Pathology, clinicians during the clinical fellowship year and volunteers

· Participate in interdisciplinary rehabilitation program development and implementation

· Occasionally participate in community service activities

· Participate in departmental decisions regarding program development, case management, continuing education, material and equipment procurement
