A Brief Summary of This Position

This position will be responsible for the operation of equipment (i.e.., pour cart, mi-jack, water jet, shuttle lift, stress jack, drill press, and any other mobile equipment.

Essential Functions

Knowledge of department and plant processesKnowledge of production equipment/hand held tools used in department in a professional mannerPerform safety auditsParticipate in Lean manufacturing, Gemba and 5SAbility to accurately use and read a tape measureAbility to work overtime as required to meet business needsDemonstrates the ability of attention to detail of product and processesMaintains an attitude that unlawful or unethical actions are not acceptedPerforms other duties directed by leaders and managementActively participate in department safety, demonstrate excellent safety practices and behaviors, which conform to all Valmont safety policy and procedures

Ability to communicate and interact with coworkers and vendors in a professional mannerIdentify and report safety hazardsAssist with general plant clean up and housekeepingThis position reports to the Department Supervisor

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

High school diploma or GED is highly desirable but not requiredOne (1) to two (2) years of relevant experienceAbility to read and follow written and verbal instructions in EnglishCommunicate problems or needs to departmental supervisionCommunicate and interact with coworkers in a professional mannerPay attention to detail and follow work instructionsHigh awareness for safety with the ability to wear all required PPE and work in a non-temperature controlled environment, as well as with exposure to outdoorsAbility to safely lift up to 50 pounds, although most frequent lift is up to 30 poundsAbility to be company trained and authorized to operate equipment and machineryAbility to work overtime as required to meet business needsSelf-Motivated ability to be internally inspired to perform task to the best of one’s ability using his/her own drive or initiativePassion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications

High School diploma or GED3+ years’ experience operating equipment

Educational Background

Must be able to read and write legiblyMust possess adequate communication and interpersonal skills to successfully interact with other employeesMust display and aptitude for problem solving and the ability to plan for potential problems or needs

Job Training Skill Development

In addition to the above, should have a basic understanding to make most necessary decisions within three months and have total comprehension of the job within one year 

Decision Making

The incumbent must be able to make decisions, voice concerns and provide feedback on any safety issues regarding the scope of this position

Mental and Visual Effort

Continuous mental/and visual attention to the operations of equipment with high awareness of safety

Conditions

Requires employee to work outside in heat, cold, wet and humid, dusty environment
