The Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH) operated by the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health (DMH) is seeking a dynamic individual to provide spiritual care activities, support, and individual and group counseling with clients, family members and staff.The selected candidate will provide pastoral oversight and counseling in times of crisis while providing consultation on issues related to spirituality. The Chaplain consults with facility administrators, clinicians, and treatment teams to identify needs, facilitate provision of Services, and further the purpose and philosophy of WRCH.
Please Note: This position is part-time, 20 hours per week. Sundays Mondays 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. One additional weekday flexible 4 hours.
Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):
Required Qualifications:
Knowledge of the types and applications of religious rites and ceremonies of the faith group served.Ability to assess religious/spiritual needs and provide counseling to clients, staff, and their families within a religious/spiritual context.Knowledge of principles of Philosophy, Spirituality, Theology including terminology.Demonstrated experience with the factors, trends, and problems in providing religious services to individuals with mental and/or emotional disorders and/or developmental impairments.Capacity to establish rapport with persons from different ethnic, cultural and/or economic backgrounds.
