X 5 Days The TECO Energy Internship & Cooperative Education Program offers college degree-seeking students the opportunity for professional growth while meeting the business needs of the company. The program is an extension of the educational process, providing practical experience to complement formal classroom work. The co-op program recruits students from colleges to give them an opportunity to work in a professional environment related to their field of study. **POSITION SUMMARY/DETAILS:** Tampa Electric Safety and Security Department wishing to provide an opportunity for college students or recent graduates the opportunity to explore career options within the field of Emergency Management. This includes allowing students to apply academic knowledge, skills, gain career skills, build resumes, and network with emergency management professionals. **Accountabilities:** + Complete Exercise Development, Implementation and review training of exercises outlined by the National Incident Management System (NIMS) + Support multiple companies and community-based outreach or engagement activities. + Participate in storm readiness and all hazards planning activities. + Attend regional emergency management meetings and network with other state and federal emergency management and homeland security professionals. + Help prepare for and/or participate in exercises (tabletop, functional, or full-scale) **Physical Location of Co-op:** TECO Plaza 702 N Franklin St. Tampa, FL. **Working Conditions** Combination of Plant/Field and Office environment. Must be willing and able to work in dusty, hot, and noisy environments. **Preferred Availability:** Part – Time (20-30 hours) **QUALIFICATIONS:** **Education:** The successful applicant should be enrolled in an ABET accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline. Co-Op Requirements: + _To qualify as a co-op student, enrollment in the university’s co-op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible for co-op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern._ + _A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required._ **Required degree:** Emergency Management, Public Health, or Business **Preferred/Related Discipline** : Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate a basic understanding of emergency management.
