PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Conducts departmental orientation, monitors employee training. Ensures staff has appropriate equipment, training, licenses and resources to be held accountable to departmental and regulatory policies and procedures. Conducts rounding and provides feedback and coaching to staff members.
Prepares and distributes work schedules for assigned group in a timely manner. Evaluates requests for time off and schedule changes and approves or declines following policy. Works with department leadership to ensure staffing levels are adequate to meet needs. Coordinates changes to schedules due to sick calls, leave of absence or other emergent changes in staff availability or work volume. Communicates changes to appropriate individuals in a timely and respectful manner.
Collaborates with key users to audit the sanitizing of resident and ancillary areas. Identifies areas for process improvement and participates in the development, implementation, evaluation and monitoring of new processes. Leads others during implementation of changes in a positive manner and though modeling expected behaviors and actions.
Monitors and assures that a sanitary work environment is maintained through all aspects of the department. Reviews all quality and safety reports and takes corrective action if there is deviation from policy or procedure. Makes recommendations for changes and/or improvements.
Promotes safety by teaching proper body mechanics, ensuring all infection control practices are maintained, and conducting safety inspections/cleaning chemical audits in all work areas.
Maintains proficiency in all techniques and equipment used by the EVS department. Ensures all equipment is tested regularly and preventive maintenance programs are followed.
Participates in and provides input on hiring and staffing including: interviewing, staffing levels, performance standards, performance review and corrective action.
Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience
EXPERIENCE
Two years' experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Constant standing and walking.Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.Frequent reaching and gripping.Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, squatting, twisting and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.Occasional use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.Occasional use of smell to detect/recognize odors.Rare crawling, sitting and keyboard use/data entry.REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL LICENSE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
