Summary
Position Highlights:
The Security Supervisor is directly responsible for the supervision of the Lead Security Officer III and all other Security Officers to ensure that all department activities and assignments are designed and directed to make every attempt to provide a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors and staff. A high degree of professionalism, visibility and vigilance with emphasis on crime deterrence and prevention coupled with a guest relations-oriented attitude are mandatory. The Security Supervisor works directly with the Lead Security Officer to ensure adequate staffing levels are met. This position plays a key role in the direction and review of investigations of incidents involving criminal activity, safety and security issues, potential liability, employee misconduct and the resolution of critical incidents.Responsibilities:
Direct supervision of Lead Security Officer III and Security Officers and assumes supervisory roles in the event of the absence of the Manager. Evaluates, counsels and mentors shift personnel regarding job performance. Monitors day to day shift operations. Assists in the training of security officers. Other administrative functions.The Ideal Candidate:
Will possess or be willing to obtain International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Certification within ninety (90) days of hire. Law Enforcement supervision experience.Credentials and Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED required. Associate's degree in Criminal Justice or related field preferred. 5 years security experience in a hospital setting with 3+ years in a supervisor or management position. Law enforcement, military service, or military police experience may be substituted on a one-on-one basis. Must have a valid and maintain a current driver's license. Meet all qualifications for Security Officer III. IAHSS Basic Certification (within 90 days of hire to position).
