Join this critical project as an SQL Server Data Engineer. With your required expertise, you will work with a high-performing client-based and client-facing team. You will have the opportunity to show/grow with technology in a customer-facing role. You should be self-motivated to drive solutions and proactively create (in sufficient detail) the documentation required to support and describe technical solutions. You should be able to work independently under limited supervision and apply your knowledge. You should have sufficient knowledge and maturity to effectively deal with technical issues and help to support the broader team. Your success will be directly related to CGI’s and our client’s success.

The preferred position is at our Delivery Center located in Lafayette, LA. where you be on site 2 days a week. (First 2 months will be full time in the office.) We will accept candidates who are located at other CGI offices in the U.S, but Hybrid will still be required. NO REMOTE.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

SQL programming, including queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers

SQL Server Development as well as Data Engineering aspects related to ETL pipelines

Optimize SQL queries and database performance, including understanding execution plans and indexing strategies.

Designing database structures, including normalization, indexing, and relationships to ensure efficient data storage and retrieval.

Understanding of data modeling concepts and tools to create logical and physical data
models.

Understand, affect, and created ETL processes and tools to move and transform data.

Analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve database issues.

Meticulous - writing and reviewing code to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2019+: Familiarity with various versions and components such as SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Agent, system/database level management objects and views, etc.

Proficiency in T-SQL: Deep knowledge of SQL programming, including queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.

Performance Tuning: Ability to optimize SQL queries and database performance, including understanding execution plans and indexing strategies.

Database Design/Data Modeling: Skills in designing database structures, including normalization, indexing, and relationships to ensure efficient data storage and retrieval.

Understanding of data modeling concepts and tools to create logical and physical data models.

ETL Processes: Knowledge of Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes and tools to move and transform data.

Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve database issues.

Attention to Detail: Meticulousness in writing and reviewing code to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

Education & Experience: A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field along with a minimum of 5 years of experience is preferred. In lieu of advanced degree, 5+ years of on the job experience may be substituted

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
