This job position is for MS SQL Server database administrator (MS SQL DBA) performing physical infrastructure activities in the Database and Reporting (WR) unit of ITS VPU.The candidate will be responsible for install, configure, patch and maintain SQL Server software on Windows environment for Standalone and High Availability clusters, Infrastructure setup, administration, maintenance, performance management, Assisting Application team in detecting performance problems, Providing backup and restore functionality, Implementing database failover technologies using High Availability clusters, Database mirroring, Always ON features and following WBG database security standard implementation process for SQL Server database environment.
Essential Job Functions:
Install, configure and maintain Microsoft SQL Server2008 R2 and SQL Server 2012 in Windows 2008 and Windows 2012 serverTune database configuration and parameters for optimal system performance.Ensure proper setting of system memory and system parameters in consultation with windows administratorsStrong production experience in managing MS SQL Server clustered environment for mission critical systemsCreate and maintain application databases with optimal data file and log file sizesAssist developers in detecting performance problems including analysis of SQL, Transact-SQL,OLEDB and ODBC connections.Provide continuous monitoring, troubleshooting, historical and real time performance monitoring of the MS SQL Server environments.Provide backup and restore functions for MS SQL Server databasesDevelop and maintain DBA scripts supporting the database function using Windows Power Shell scriptsPeriodically refresh development and test databases using copy of production systemParticipate in On Call weekly shift supporting off hours and weekend activity. This is rotating assignment shared with other members of the team as necessaryManage the setup of MS SQL Server databases at Business Continuity siteConfigure and manage the database systems as per security guidelines and industry best practices such as SOX, HIPAA, and PCIFollow ITIL process in the system administration and need to be familiar with ISO 20000 and ISO 24001 processesMaintain highly available SQL Server databases using SQL Database Mirroring and SQL Always On TechnologyMaintain highly secure SQL Server databases using SQL Transparent Data Encryption, SQL Line Encryption, and enhanced SQL Server auditing featuresEducational Qualifications and Experience:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or STEM related fieldsRole Specific Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience as a DBA in MS SQL Server systems on Windows 2003 clustered platformStrong production experience in managing MS SQL Server clustered environment for mission critical systemsAdvanced experience in backup and recovery in SQL Server 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2012Certification Requirements:
MS SQL Server DBA 2008 certification is a plusRequired Skills/Abilities:
Proficiency in installation and maintenance of SQL Server clusters for high availabilityAdvanced knowledge of Windows Server 2008 and Window Server 2012 operating system environmentsAdvanced understanding of underlying windows cluster technologyDesired Skills/Abilities (not required but a plus):
