Sr Accommodations Associate

POSITION PURPOSE 

 

The Sr Associate for Accommodations engages with disabled or injured employees to provide assistance in the interactive process for accommodations and return-to-work (RTW) programs, while also gaining valuable experience and knowledge in this field. This job classification requires collaboration skills and ability to administer complex processes for  return to work and/or modified work programs. supporting team members with injuries, illnesses, or disabilities.  

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES 

 *Conducts the interactive process to determine accommodations and/or the potential to return to work for team members with injuries, illnesses, or disabilities, with guidance from senior team members: 

Identifies potential assignments and accommodations that meet medical restrictions for common and moderately complex types of accommodations.  

Reviews job descriptions and third-party administrator documentation to identify accommodation solutions and escalates to RTW office. 

Composes written responses relating to Return-to-Work (RTW) status and ensures written communication is sent to all parties. 

Monitors and records case status from incident/illness through reinstatement, following established RTW processes and procedures. 

Collaborates with the Worker’s Compensation administrator for industrial accommodation determinations  

Complies with the process for accommodation refusals from either team members or leaders and escalates to supervisor or senior RTW team as needed. 

Participates in maintaining proactive and positive communication with impacted team members throughout the RTW process. 

*Participates in the development and implementation of processes, procedures, and programs under supervision: 

Assists in communicating program services to team members, medical care providers, business partners, and management. 

Ensures processes and procedures are consistently followed and requests for accommodation follow the centralized process. 

Contributes to the gathering of documentation required for legal claims and assists in document tracking and retention. 

*Acts as a resource to learn from senior team members on leave of absence programs, applicable laws, and interaction with work place policies and procedures: 

Actively engage in learning and maintaining knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements and changing workplace accommodation and leave laws. 

*Collaborates with Payroll and the entire Benefits team to gain experience in integrating leave types and leave pay and benefits while communicating pay and benefit implications.  

Under the guidance of supervisor and senior RTW staff, supports the design and delivery of training and education to leaders in basic leave of absence and ADA compliance regulations.  

May support the development and implementation of Transitional Duty program for all worksite locations.  

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

Associate’s degree in Business or HR-related subjects is preferred.  Four or more years of progressive experience in office or basic administration of service or programs.  Experience with customer service and being of service to people facing difficult circumstances. 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: 

Basic technical knowledge of employee leave of absence and ADA accommodations policies, practices and applicable laws or the ability to learn. 

Knowledge of company practices and applicable government regulations related to leave of absence and the interactive process or the ability to learn. 

General knowledge of HR principles and practices of benefits and employee relations fundamentals.
