The Sr Accountant, Income Tax is responsible for supporting the key income tax processes within Tractor Supply Company’s tax department. This position will assist with the quarterly and annual provision calculations and support federal, state, and local return compliance for TSC. Such support includes both preparation and review of income tax returns and their underlying calculations, tax accounting analysis and reporting, tax research and planning, and implementing tax projects and strategies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%) Obtain and analyze the data necessary for determining TSC’s income tax liability including calculating book/tax differences and federal/state differences for return compliance and provision calculations. Assist with the preparation and filing of TSC’s federal income tax return. Review and/or prepare and file TSC’s state and local income tax returns. Review and/or prepare detailed analysis to monitor, calculate, and process periodic federal, state, and local tax payments. Assist in the preparation and maintenance of the tax provision and related workpapers on a quarterly basis. Determine the annual intercompany administration service charge and intercompany rent allocation. Determine the monthly company tax accounting entries using a model, and the related three company tax trial balance on a quarterly basis and for the tax return. Review system generated tax depreciation reports to ensure optimal classification of assets for tax. Monitor federal and state tax developments for every state of operation. Assist with Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and state tax audits. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.Required Qualifications
Experience: 2- 4 years of direct tax experience in public accounting or corporate environment working with federal and multi-state taxation.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field is preferred. Master’s degree in Accounting, Tax, or related field is desired. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.
Professional Certifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or comparable certification is preferred.
Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities Knowledge and proficiency with income tax compliance software (e.g. OneSource RS) is required. Knowledge and proficiency with income tax provision software OneSource Tax Provision (OTP) desired, but not required. Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Alteryx experience desired, but not required.
