This is a professional position responsible for delivering timely and accurate financial reporting, store financial and operational reporting, and budgeting.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Monthly Accounting Processes:
Timely preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations for Self-Insurance reserves, Legal reserves, Advertising expenses, etc in accordance with GAAP and O'Reilly accounting policies.
Collaborate with team members inside and outside of finance to improve processes and operations.
Ensure compliance with SOX controls and maintain supporting control process documentation.
Assist internal and external audit processes as necessary.
Monthly Close Process:
Analytical review and reasonableness tests of various income and expense accounts. Analysis and review of various balance sheet accounts.
Analysis and review of budget to actual variances.
Analysis and detailed review of staff accountant tasks to ensure accuracy prior to posting to general ledger.
Generate reporting and analysis as required by management.
Store Financial Reporting:
Coordinate the process and review the verification and distribution of monthly operational reports to stores, district managers, regional managers, and other operational leaders.
Review branch store accounting and coordinate creation of monthly store Profit and Loss statements.
Provide a high level of service to operational groups and departments through prompt and thorough responses to questions and requests for enhanced reporting.
Budgeting:
Develop and maintain IT operational budgets and coordinate with IT managers to ensure appropriateness.
Assist Advertising managers in creation of annual budget file and ensure accuracy.
Review budget templates of various expense accounts for reasonableness and accuracy.
Supervision:
Supervise Staff Accountant to ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks.
Mentor and coach the O'Reilly Culture.
Hire, discipline, and review as needed.

REQUIRED:

Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
B.S. Degree in Accounting.
3 to 5 years accounting experience.
