Basic Job Functions: 

The Sr. Accountant helps support all accounting activities of Indian entities, including coordinating the execution of certain activites with the accounts payable, manufacturing finance, and fixed asset teams.  This associate will liase with external service providers and auditors to ensure compliance with local tax and accounting requirements.  This associate will also be a key contact for all other business partners/departments in India to support them as needed from an accounting perspective and to ensure that they have the information they need to drive sound business decisions.  This associate will also provide guidance and support as needed to other teams within the Finance organization, such as tax, treasury, and financial planning & analysis. 

 

 

Education:

B. Com or similar discipline

 

Experience:

Minimum of 6-8 years experience in accounting, preferably in a multi-national manufacturing environment Prior oversight of accounting associates is a plus Oracle experience is a plus

 

Required Skills:

Business fluency in English and local language, spoken and written Ability to build sustainable accounting processes Strong knowledge of US GAAP and local Indian GAAP accounting principles and statutory tax rules and requirements Ability to challenge and improve processes  Ability to liaise with local governmental agencies to ensure compliance Ability to manage multiple deadlines and ensure that deliverables are completed timely Ability to research and identify problems and work effectively in collaboration with other teams to resolve Attention to detail, but ability to summarize into key points/actionable items Strong work ethic, can work independently and work with the team Ability to thrive in a fast paced and changing environment Strong communication skills 

 

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Assist the shared service center and corporate accounting teams with the month-end close process by ensuring proper cut-off and adherence to timelines  Provide leadership and guidance to the local accounting team across all functions, accounts payable, manufacturing finance, etc. Review and approve journal entries and reconciliations for Indian entities, as directed by the shared service center Provide summary of significant accounting issues for inclusion in corporate accounting close presentations Work closely with the India accounting team and to ensure accurate and timely completion of any local accounting requirements/filings Work with auditors, governmental agencies, banks, vendors, and other 3rd parties as needed to support accounting initiatives Work collaborately with the shared service center accounts payable team to ensure that invocies are recorded and paid in a timely manner Work with local departmental leaders to ensure knowledge of and compliance with accounting policies Support treasury as needed in local treasury management activities Support the fixed asset team in validation of the fixed assets on-site Serve as a key accounting lead to support plant management in finance and accounting related requests Lead testing efforts to ensure system readiness for any accounting initiatives for the Indian entities
