Job Description

Perform all necessary requirements that will ensure accurate payroll tax calculations and timely tax filing and deposit using existing controls and processes. Create, troubleshoot and distribute payroll-related reports.  Analyze data as needed to solve problems and improve current processes/controls. Make decisions related to payroll, payroll tax, and payroll reporting will little supervision. Learn and cross-train on the fundamentals of payroll processing to serve as a backup for payroll processing if needed.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Process payroll tax information for the accurate calculation and timely filing and deposit of payroll tax related to all GNC payrolls in both the US and Canada. Run and monitor payroll tax processes as required. Create, run and distribute data files or reports to GNC internal partners in various departments, including, but not limited to, accounting, risk management, human resources and legal, as well as to outside agencies and partners as needed. Monitor and evaluate all payroll tax error reports and dashboards; take corrective action as needed to ensure payroll taxes are accurate. Analyze and verify payroll and/or payroll tax information as required by the Payroll Manager and/or other GNC business partners. Build and/or run reports and queries to assist in the analysis of payroll and/or payroll tax information and prepare tax or taxable income adjustments, as needed. Complete monthly and quarterly reconciliations of payroll / payroll taxes in preparation for year end. Assist with filing quarterly and annual 940 and 941 payroll tax returns. Assist with the completion, review and distribution of Forms W-2 and T4 as well as other annual reconciliations and file submissions as necessary. Develop or update payroll department documented procedures. Assist team members, managers, and external partners timely to resolve questions and concerns. Maintain cross-training and current knowledge of the fundamentals of payroll processing for the purpose of serving as a backup for other payroll team members as needed. Perform additional duties as assigned.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications

Minimum high school diploma required or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key accountabilities of the job 2+ years progressive payroll experience required, including 1+ years of payroll tax experience High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & internet applications Strong MS Excel skills, including the ability to use a wide variety of formulas and pivot tables Solid understanding of how to create and troubleshoot reports containing payroll and payroll tax information ADP experience a plus Microsoft SQL Server experience a plus Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion) & planning skills Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning) Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment. Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to create spreadsheets, charts and graphs to represent data Ability to read, write, and comprehend detailed instructions, correspondence, and documents of various kinds Ability to work overtime as necessary
