The worldwide push for net zero aviation creates significant opportunities for Honeywell to maintain our position at the forefront of global aerospace technology development by taking technologies that are needed for the thermal management of new low carbon emission aircraft from concepts through to mature technologies that will drive the revolution towards net zero aviation.
We are looking for an experienced thermal systems engineer to join an established multi-disciplinary R&D team based in the Southwest of England to work on technology developments, from initial concepts up to prototypes demonstrated in flight.
As the technical project lead for the thermal management of key sub-systems of sustainable next-gen aircraft, powered by Hydrogen Fuel Cell, Hydrogen Gas Turbines or Hybrid Systems, you are expected to define the system architecture, coordinate and control trade-off analyses, system modelling and simulations, performance assessment for integrated thermal management systems and sub-systems, heat exchangers, as well as electric propulsion.
Responsibilities
· Leading efforts on component design and development for thermal management components as well as system architecture definition and novel concepts development for thermal management sub-systems
· Provide expertise in an area of heat exchangers, electric propulsion motor cooling and their integration, CFD and thermal analysis
· Close collaboration with subject matter experts on architecture definition, systems, and component engineering, providing system level guidance, defining the trade-off studies and participation on system modelling and analyses including preparation of V&V plans
· Definition and planning of system development, leading design reviews and the relevant team(s)
· Preparing tasks for colleagues and integrate their results into your system development.
Qualification
· Degree or above in a relevant engineering domain, Masters/PhD would be preferred
· Multidisciplinary or thermal system engineering experience.
· Good command of English language
· Although this is primarily a civilian aerospace role our technology has military applications, and the successful candidate will need to meet with our security standards
Advantageous Experience
· Demonstrated experience of Heat Exchanger design and/or manufacture
· Demonstrated experience with vapor cycle cooling or air cycle cooling systems
· Demonstrated experience in project management with smaller or larger multidisciplinary teams
· Aerospace experience
If this is your dream role, then we'd love to hear from you.
