Provides engineering support of highly technical and advanced manufacturing processes typically requiring specialized qualifications, knowledge and/or skill. Performs project management and design, development, evaluation, and quality control functions on highly complex engineering projects, regularly offering innovative solutions to significant technical problems. Applies mathematical, physical science, and advanced engineering technologies in accomplishing engineering objectives. Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments. Recognized authority within area of expertise with wide versatility of experience and capability. Works under general administrative direction occasionally with some latitude for unreviewed actions or decisions

Duties and Responsibilities\rPerforms Welding Engineering duties to support daily welding operationsApplies technical engineering skillset to analyze process efficiency, troubleshoot defects, perform quality control functions, and drive cost savingsEvaluates, applies and develops complex welding specifications in cooperation with the customerDevelops robust and repeatable joining procedures for high precision components using Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), Electron Beam Welding (EBW), Laser Beam Welding (LBW), Resistance Welding, and Vacuum Furnace BrazingPresents technical reports and communicates technical directly to customer subject matter expertsWrites weld qualification reports, weld procedure specifications, and work instructionsLead process center as Subject Matter Expert, in addition to outlining growth and process improvements projectsYou Must Have\rUS citizenship in order to obtain and maintain US Dept of Energy \"\"Q\"\" level security clearanceSix (6) or more years of progressive, applied experience in engineering roles in a technical or manufacturing environmentBachelor of Science degree in Welding Engineering, or Welding Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited programWe Value\rGraduate Degree (Master's degree or PhD) in Welding, Metallurgical or Materials Engineering or other equivalent field from an ABET accredited program/universityUndergraduate Degree in Welding, Welding Technology, Metallurgical or Materials Engineering from an ABET accredited program/universityRelevant experience performing welding engineering or similar metal product processing; generally 4 or more years desiredResearch and development experience in welding processes and/or welding metallurgyTechnical understanding of stainless-steel welding metallurgyExperience using and developing weld procedures for EBW, LBW, GTAW, Resistance Welding, and/or Furnace ProcessesStrong desire to drive advancements in welding technology and processesAbility to quickly adapt to new processes and materialsDemonstrated ability to create and edit complex engineering and process equipment software
