Sr Analyst, Benefits Planning

This Columbus based hybrid role is compensation grade E3. Candidates must have prior benefits experience.

This role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization. Nationwide does not participate in the Stem OPT Extension program.

As a Senior Benefits Analyst, you will evaluate complex benefit information and actively contribute to benefits planning projects. You may assist in or lead minor project implementations related to comprehensive benefit plan and delivery changes. Additionally, you will provide crucial support to the Benefits Planning team, helping to achieve departmental objectives, and ensuring the effective delivery of benefit programs.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:   

Compile, review, and analyze benefits-related information to ensure accuracy and relevance.

Assist in the development and coordination of benefit plan communications, ensuring clear and effective dissemination of information.

Conduct preliminary and comprehensive research on associate benefit plans, policies, and practices to support informed decision-making.

Recommend new or improved associate benefit programs and practices for both qualified and non-qualified plans and programs.

Generate ideas for productivity improvements and assist in documenting processes to enhance efficiency.

Support financial, budget-related, and business-related studies and projects, providing insights and analysis.

Retrieve data from internal and external sources and develop, produce, and maintain ad hoc and custom reports to meet benefits planning information needs.

Analyze information contained in reports and support information project needs.

Maintain a close relationship with the Benefits Administration function, assisting in research for problem resolution and plan interpretation.

Participate in cross-functional teams to design and implement benefits plans and programs.

Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the benefits team.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.   

 

Reporting Relationships: Reports to the Director of Benefits Planning. This is an individual contributor. 

 

Typical Skills and Experiences:   

 

Education: Undergraduate studies in business administration, economics, finance, or human resources. An undergraduate degree is degree is preferred. 

 

License/Certification/Designation: Progress towards industry or benefits related certifications (Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) or Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI)) preferred. 

 

Experience: Three or more years of demonstrated experience in benefits planning and/or administration that includes experience in administrative, planning, and project management functions. 

 

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: General knowledge of Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) law, project management concepts and techniques, and benefits theory.  Ability to analyze a business problem; define relevant issues; coordinate resolving the problem; define alternatives and develop recommendations and solutions; process improvement skills; verbal and written communication; and interaction with all levels of associates including top management, external management, and third-party providers; analytical skills. 

 

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.  

 

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and Human Resource Business Partner.

Overtime Eligibility: Exempt (Not Eligible) 

 

Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Occasional travel.  Non-standard or extended hours based on project needs.
