Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role PurposeWe are seeking a Senior Analyst, Business Intelligence - Enterprise & Data Center who will lead our global market scanning, intelligence, and market forecast models for this business segment. They will serve as an in-depth expert in the enterprise market segment, with keen understanding of the IBN/LAN and data center end markets. Able to use both economics and business intelligence to derive qualitative and quantitative analysis to inform strategic planning. This role is designed for an individual who enjoys and excels in analyzing economics, financial markets, and industry trends, able to take complex quantitative insights, support them with real world examples, and present them in compelling ways to business leaders. This person will report to the Business Intelligence team and be regularly integrated with the Data Center Business Unit. The Sr Analyst will provide expert business intelligence on the enterprise markets to aid DCBU in identifying growth opportunities, constraints, and market realities.
Key ResponsibilitiesServe as the primary business and market intelligence expert for COC’s Data Center Business Unit + IBN/LAN end markets, providing macro market intelligence. This includes weekly integration with DCBU leadership and market meetings as well as daily work with the COC Business Intelligence team
Understand trends and then explore, learn, and research answers to questions. This means becoming the subject matter expert on global market intelligence for Data Center, IBN, and LAN markets through comprehensive industry research, investment bank analysis, and collaboration with product teams. Researching and reading will occupy a large portion of daily work
Manage and refine the DC forecasting model in collaboration with the data science team, leveraging advanced data analytics and predictive modeling techniques. Must be comfortable with data analytics and able to manage and explain existing market models to both experienced and inexperienced audiences
Oversee data center interconnect intelligence systems and models in coordination with fiber, cable, and the BI modeling team, ensuring accurate and timely insights for this market segment
Utilize industry forecasting services and subscriptions to perform macro data analysis, identifying potential opportunities for DC business development teams through data sources
Master excel market modeling and be capable of performing proforma discounted cash flow modeling, providing a data-driven perspective in strategic discussions with COC senior leaders. DCF modeling would be infrequent, but being able to perform simple excel modeling quickly to answer market questions is a must
Be a teacher, able to simply explain and communicate concepts across the business. Especially in regular executive communication with DCBU business leader, COC CFO, division GMs, and the COC GM (as necessary), presenting complex data in an understandable and actionable manner
Required Experience/EducationB.A. in a quantitatively rigorous major required
At least 5 years of relevant experience
A passion for data, with a keen eye for detail, accuracy, and the ability to interpret complex data sets
Ability to create and interpret data-centric narratives for senior leaders that combine numbers, qualitative analysis, and external sources, translating data into business insights
Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex data and market trends to senior leadership
Strong PowerPoint skills, with the ability to create impactful slides for senior leaders
An ability to quickly gain a deep understanding of the data center market and drivers through research and integration with business partners. Prior market knowledge is not required but must demonstrate you know how to research a market and quickly learn
Must enjoy conducting industry research including reading large volumes of investment banking analyst reports, industry reports, public company earnings and transcripts, and able to digest and summarize reports quickly
Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, able to build coalitions and teams within a matrixed organization without formal leadership structure
Proficiency in excel modeling, with the ability to conduct proforma discounted cash flow analysis (or similar), regression analysis, and pivot tables
An innovative mindset, with the ability to identify new opportunities through data analysis
Desired ExperienceMBA with strong business acumen
Prior teaching experience (or similar) is a plus
An ability to create Power BI dashboards or have the willingness and capability to quickly learn
Familiarity with R, Python, SQL, and Data Bricks is a plus
Familiarity with Capital IQ, FactSet, or Alpha Sense are a bonus. Will work with these systems often

The range for this position is $122,870.00 - $168,946.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
