Primary Purpose Provide governance, oversight and drives performance of activities related to the Research and Development (R&D) Peer Group and the execution of R&D portfolio. Note: This is a hybrid position (in-office with remote flexibility). Employees are required to be in office at least three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). Must sit within our service areas in DC, Chicago, Philly, NJ, Newark - DE or Baltimore. No relocation is available. Primary Duties Execute R&D Portfolio. Leads development of annual R&D portfolio. Works with R&D collaborative organizations, OpCos UFAMS and advisors to develop the R&D portfolio for each year. Collaborative R&D memberships currently include CEATI, EPRI, NEETRAC, NYSEARCH, OTD, PSERC, and UHSG. (25%) Liaison between the OpCo UFAMs, Advisors and the R&D collaborative partners. Collaborative R&D memberships currently include CEATI, EPRI, NEETRAC, NYSEARCH, OTD, PSERC, and UHSG. Manages relationships with our external R&D partner organizations. Executes contracts for Supplemental projects. (20%) Chairs the monthly cross- company R&D peer group meetings. Drives the forum for updates of ongoing R&D activities and membership meetings, approval of supplemental projects, update of technical advisors and review of R&D deliverables. Maintains R&D peer group-controlled documents. Identifies opportunities to improve the R&D coordination and collaboration activities and implements improvements. (20%) Collaborates with the operating company UFAMs and Corporate Strategy teams to understand the key strategic issues facing the company and technology debt. Leverages Peer Groups and the Collaborative R&D memberships to address these challenges. (15%) Tracks and manages supplemental project and program spend. (15%) Proactively identifies Supplemental projects offered by our partners, evaluates their relevance, shares them with the appropriate SMEs for review and approval to participate. Informs impacted peer groups of applicable R&D activities. Supports other Exelon corporation R&D activities, as necessary. Minimum Qualifications Minimum completion of a 4-yr degree with a relevant major field of study. 4-7 years of industry/related experience, or in lieu of degree, 7+ years of relevant business experience is required. Strong interpersonal skills and solid written and oral communication skills. Excellent analytical skills - demonstrated financial/quantitative and qualitative analytical skills. Ability to translate analysis into key messages and develop story line associated with project analysis. Ability to frame ambiguous issues and structure appropriate analysis. Demonstrated ability to apply strategic and critical thinking to problem solving. Ability to work productively with diverse teams. Ability to work independently to advance assignments and developing ability to drive efforts to completion. Preferred Qualifications 4-yr science, engineering, or technical degree Knowledge and understanding of relevant and emerging technology, customer, and industry trends. Ability to lead large teams. Master's degree in business, economics, or other related discipline. Knowledge of energy industry Comprehensive understanding of applicable standards, methods, processes and practices, business fundamentals, and performance metrics in the specific functional area supported by this position (e.g., asset management, electric or gas operations, customer service, transmission and substation, distribution system operations, regulatory and external affairs, transmission operations and planning). Advanced proficiency in standard software applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project), specialized business technologies and applications (e.g., workforce management, project management, PassPort, Brio, CIS, EPS, Business Objects, SAP planning, business modeling, forecasting, voice response unit, automatic call distributors, work management, outage management) to retrieve and analyze data in support of business needs. Ability to provide in-depth analysis and apply managerial accounting concepts, customer intelligence gathering, forecasting, staff planning, scheduling, analytical and statistical problem solving, financial, accounting, business, and budget analysis. Demonstrated strong analytical skills for project evaluation including analysis of complex projects with economic, financial, risk and decision analysis. Proficient in business case development and ability to effectively present business cases to business unit leadership. Customer driven with good oral and written communications skills and strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills.
